Long time camper & travel trailer owner, first time owner of a motorhome.

My wife & I have been camping since we were kids. We now have a kid of our own and we bought our first travel trailer when he was 3 months old.

Thankfully, he continues to enjoy camping as much as we do to this day.

We've always been weekenders, not really traveling too far from home. She is self-employed, and my job keeps me fairly close to home as well. The more we thought about it though, we really want to plan more trips while our son still enjoys camping and spending time with us. My current tow vehicle is a Toyota Tacoma, and while it's done everything I've ever asked of it & more, towing the camper long distances with it just wore me out. Our last 5.5 hour trip to southern Missouri was about as far as I cared to go. Not to mention joining friends of ours in the Smokies would have given the old truck quite a workout.

So we decided to try our luck with a Class C. We ended up selling our last travel trailer for only $4k less than we paid for it over 6 years ago, and lucked into - what I thought anyway- was a steal on an older Thor. It is a 2016 Thor Chateau 26B. It was owned by a now-retired farmer & his wife, always kept in a concrete floored pole building, less than 16,000 miles, and looked immaculate inside and out. We've only taken it out one weekend so far, but have several weekends & a short trip planned to Southern Illinois for my son's upcoming birthday. Here's hoping we get to enjoy plenty of miles & smiles before he gets to old for Mom & Dad!

Welcome aboard! Nice looking Motorhome!. We've had everything from a VW Westfalia to our current Class A. I like motorhomes because everything is accessible as we travel. And when we arrive it only takes a few minutes to go from from driving to "camping".

:welcomesign:to the group. MHs are a different experience than TTs and pickups but the V10 drivetrain is pretty reliable. The big difference is the availability of a get-around vehicle when you're set up at the campsite but most cure that by pulling a TOAD/TOWED either 4 down or on a dolly/trailer.

Feel free to ask questions of about your new MH as they arise. I can already tell by your first post that you will provide all the needed info in the question to get a good answer from our knowledgebase.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Enjoy your camper!

As you have been camping for years then WELCOME to a world of knowledge. It’s good to see you know how to use a camera that could be helpful when asking questions. Many people learn from the questions asked and always good to hear the end results of a problem.

Yeah, a secondary vehicle is our biggest hangup right now. Well, not necessarily a hangup, but rabbit hole we're going down. Neither of our current vehicles are flat towable (RWD Tacoma & AWD Outback), so currently in the market for a good car trailer. I currently have a utility trailer that I use to haul around our SxS and tractor as needed, so my plan is to sell that and get a good open trailer that can be used for all of the above. Most of the places we visit on a routine basis have ample trailer parking available, but as we travel I know I will need to keep that in mind as we look for places to stay. When staying anywhere close, we will most likely just have her follow in her car if we think we will need it.

As far as questions and/or problems, you've all already helped lead me in the correct direction to fix our pantry, so for that I'm thankful already!
