Hello from Colorado

After 2 years of renting for family vacations, I finally talked my wife in to buying our own. A 2013 28z with only 3000 miles. We are going to take it on our first four night trip to South Dakota in a few weeks. We are looking forward to have a place to call our own.

Just a word of advise.
If you are first time RV owners, I suggest you set the camper up in your driveway or backyard and camp in it for a few nights. That will help give you an idea of how things work, where things are, and just what all you will need to pack to be comfortable.
Plus if something doesn't work, you will find it out now, and not out on the road where you will wonder where and how you are going to get it fixed.

I'll do that. We have quite a list of needs my wife keeps from our previous rentals, but finding out at home is best, you are correct.

I have found that the number of items you "need" on your vacation is proportional to how much storage space you have on your RV.

Welcome and congrats. As Lloyd said camp close to home or at least close to Wal-Mart for your first trip. Keep a notebook and pen in the rig to write down things you need/want. Make a set up and take down list to help you not forget things.

Congrats on your new rig! We also live in Colorado and just purchased a new RV. We've taken several small trips to state parks in CO (Cherry Creek, Steamboat Lake, St. Vrain, and Eleven Mile Reservoir) in order to figure things out while relatively close to home. Be sure to camp in ALL ways--full-hook-ups, electric only, and no hook-ups. We've learned a lot in each scenario, things our dealer forgot to mention... And discovered that we didn't receive quite a few owners' manuals for reference. All the best and happy travels to you!
