I'm still at a loss as to why this damage is the responsibility of the buyer. I would think that, generally speaking, risk of loss passes once there is delivery, unless the contract specified otherwise. Now if the buyer took delivery at the dealership and then arranged for the transportion, that's a different story and no, the dealership wouldn't be on the hook. But in that case, I wonder why the transport company's insurance didn't cover this.

I would not be surprised, with the transport being a round trip from FL, that it was a 1 person transport co. Trailers are constantly being moved around down there. The only way to know who's liable is to read all the fine print of the agreement.
