Just upgraded from a Jayco popup to a '09 Sunset Trail LT22BH . Had been sitting on the lot awhile . Wasn't the most practical floor design but we'll make it work. It's the size and profile we were looking for, and enough beds for the kids. Alot more to a TT than the popup, I think we'll adapt ok. Been hovering around since before we bought, kinda seeing what you all had to say about yours. Mostly all positive responses I'm glad to see.

The Ford pulls it pretty good . We have a whopper of a challenge in a couple of weeks . Heading to upstate NY, then over to NH, on to Maine ,Boston ,then Philly, for two weeks. I guess after that we will know if we really like it !!! LOL

Welcome and congrats on the new ST. Your 150 should pull that fine. Just remember the trailer will cut corners so stay wide, especially on right turns (curbs will bite you!)

The 1/2 ton should work just fine but the best insurance to save a tranny is to have a "trans temp" gage so you don't cook the tranny.Watch the tack to make sure the torque converter is NOT un-locked and slipping (make trans temp climb super fast).Best of luck.

Welcome to the forum, you should have no problems pulling your camper with your truck. I hope you have many years of good camping with your setup.

Welcome to the Sunset Trail group. We have a new ST24BH which we pull with a F150. We have no problems towing. We are in the mountain west and we pull one pass or two verytime we go out. Planning on doing Cottonwood Pass (12,000+) to Taylor Park CO next week-end. Have fun and enjoy all the good times.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome . I looked at the 24BH they stopped making that model in 09 . A dealer had one about 150 mi. south of us but they still wanted 20K for it. As far as trans temp gauge is there one available that you can plug into the computer monitor plug? How hot is too hot ,and what do you do to cool it just stop on the berm?

plan enough extra time for the drive. let the truck (mainly transmission) rest every hour or so.

WELCOME WELCOME, have fun

Some power enhancers (EdgePerformance) do have the ability for a digital display. Most performance and/or trans shops can put a temp sensor in the fluid line. 230-250 is getting pretty hot.

Just got back, the truck pulled fine averaged around 11MPG . There were a couple mountains that was challenging only pulling around 30MPH in second gear about 3500-4000 RPM. Sounded like it was screaming but it went. When the transmission is getting ready to shift or I want it to shift ,I just let off the fuel pedal and let it shift . I did find the Edge revolution that monitors all kinds of functions but at $360.00 it wasn't in the budget before vacation. We really like the TT it worked well for us. Could use a bigger bathroom , maybe next time !!!
