I have a 2018 Thor Freedom Elite motor coach. Two years ago I had my RV in my drive not being used for about three months(rare for us). I found after it sitting idle that my home battery was very low. Everything, I thought was off. So, I installed an inexpensive $4.00 brass battery blade device on my negative battery post. The battery on my model sits below the entry step of the home. It has worked fine for the past two years. I am finding that the battery blade losses some of it’s “pinching” between the blade and the spring. I could grab some pliers and compress it some but am thinking that I should try something better quality. I also find that the battery blade tends to arc when disconnecting. This I do not like. I believe batteries off gas Hydrogen Gas which is highly flammable. The battery is a deep cell type. I am looking at a battery disconnect switch on Amazon for $13.00. It has a big red switch knob and is enclosed in a plastic housing. I am thinking of simply setting the switch on top of the battery and strapping it in place. I would imagine that it still arcs inside the box and I should consider relocating it somewhere inside the home but really do not like cutting holes in the home and risking doing something that will not look professional. Has anyone used a model like this and where would be the best mounting location. I look forward to your experiences and suggestions. Thank you

Relatively simple to install a Blue Seas style battery switch on the cabinet just inside your door. The cable run is fairly short... Thor typically installs them there. No latching relay needed. It's a simple switch designed to disconnect the battery... no arcing. Basic carpenter skills and simple homeowner tools are all that's needed.
