I've got a new TV and I can already see I have a problem. My new TV is a super crew, and I can't see the hitch in the box of the truck. So, I know that is going to be a problem backing into the 5er to hook up.
What do you guys with the same type cab on your TV do so you can back in square to the pin?

What about a mirror on the RV that faces the king pin? Got one on my Cruiser but I can see clearly out the back window of my Silverado.

I don't have a 5er yet, but with my old Escalade I backed up until I thought I was close...then I got out and checked, marked a spot on the ground...and backed up a little more...then checked again, then whittled it down to the last inch or so. I have hooked up many times without any help and I always make it work out...should it not be at least a little easier with a 5er? I hope it is.

I open the sliding rear window and center the hitch in the window when looking thru the windshield rear view mirror. I use the outside mirror to get lined up true to the trailer then switch to the inside mirror for the fine alignment. About the 2-3 time you do it you will know what you have to see in the mirror.

I've got the Superduty 250 crew with a toolbox, I put a black 1in. tape on the center of the toolbox. You'll be pretty close, make sure she's high enough and back-in slow.

Get the mirror for the front of the rig. when you get close the receiver shows up well in the TV mirror.

Hi Lloyd! Great to hear you have a new TV! Looking forward to data on the Eco Boost too!

Well...I too was challenged by the hitching and have tried many ways ... I have a Swift Hitch wireless back up camera, tape, white lines, rope on ground, DW, etc etc ... BUT this works 100% of the time with no effort and is cheap.
I usea telescopicmagneticpickup tool from Sears and simply place it on the hitch as below. As I back onto the hitch, it is simply pushed off .
I line it up with the rear view mirror and center of pin box so as I back towards the pin box from across the driveway ... a perfect straight line to the pin.
So with hitchin rear slider position (no tailgate damage here) with tailgate down, I could back onto it without getting out of truck! and no points deducted from Hunter11 for making a 2nd step out.

Never have had a problem seeing the hitch. I use my rearview mirror which is high enough to allow me to see down to the hitch and pin for accurate alignment.
I have a crew cab and still don't have any issue.
Sounds like a camera/tv system would be slick, just not sure why necessary?
What am I missing?

Cheapest - mirror on 5er hitch.
Best - cheap wireless back up camera mounted on front of bed.

Fantastic idea. I'll be doing that next time out. I have a crew cab and also car seats in the back so I can't see squat ... end up contorting all over the place, sometimes get lucky, sometimes not.

This way I can see center without too much trouble ...

I finally got to checking out the "fit" of the two units yesterday. Had to lower the hitch in the truck one hole. I didn't dare go any more, only have a strong 6in. clearance between the box and camper now. That leaves the 5er 1in. high in front, but that might change when we load it.
I can't figure out why the mfgs. in the last few years had to raise the trucks, especially the box sides. I was really sweating it, but maybe it will be OK for me.
