House battery will not charge

My house, battery drained, and will not charge back up connected to shore power. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I suggest you give us more information. Year/Make/Model RV for a start.

I also suggest you search the Forum for the same issue if you have a Tellaro/Sanctuary - seems to be a common issue.

I think some of the "smart chargers" require at least some voltage to turn on. Hook up another 10-14v DC source (in parallel , + to + and - to _) for a few minutes and see is that gets the charger turned on. You could always use jumper cables off of a car too. If they are Lead/Acid batteries, make sure to check the water level.

You obviously discharged your LiFePO4 batteries to BMS cutoff. Simply use a jump pack to wake up the batteries.

If that doesn't make sense or seems to not apply, it's because I'm guessing due to lack of relevant details.

can use jump pack on the 6 volt house bank?

There are no RVs with a "6 volt house bank".

They are all 12 volt battery banks.

They may use 6 volt batteries, but they are cabled to provide 12 volts.

If you have 6 volt batteries, they are likely lead acid and cabled in series to provide 12 volts.

So the answer is NO... a jump pack won't "wake up" lead acid batteries... they do not have a low voltage cutoff feature like most LiFePO4 batteries.

Your problem is somewhere else... either a circuit breaker is tripped, your use/store switch is in store (off) or your battery bank is completely dead.

I suggest checking those previously mentioned issues then report back. Also DETAILED description of your motorhome type, model etc. would be VERY helpful!

Can you connect a 12 VDC jump pack to a house battery bank which has 6 volt batteries in it? Yes - if you know enough about the battery cabling to do it correctly.

This would help if the house battery bank is discharged and you need to:

Start the generator, or
Close the battery disconnect latching relay so SP can charge the bank, or
Both

He the generator going to charge. Was at the dealership for 2 months for a furnace repair. Brought it home and nothing on the house side works. Battery too low for the solenoid.

Black clamp to negative and Red to the last positive post?

That "should" be correct. It is the positive post that is NOT connected to any batteries' negative post. And the negative post is the one that is NOT connected to any positive post.

I'm assuming you have four 6 volt batteries in a series-parallel configuration?

Worked like a charm. As soon as I applied the charger directly to the house batteries the system let the power through the inverter and the shore power to start charging. Thanks.
