Huge bubble forming on top of trailer

My wife and I saw a poor guy driving down the road in San Antonio texas yesterday and he had a really nice redwood but it was the first time I saw this on a trailer or even tho a new trailer at that. It looked like the top of the trailers top started to seperate and air was collecting underneath that. Right behind the front cap it looked like somebody pumped full of air and I now the trailer is 13.2 feet tall but after the huge bubble it looked like it was close to 15 to 16.5 feet tall. Any body else seen something like that. I felt sorry for the guy but we couldn't catch his attention to let him know

I have seen it before on other brands but I'm sure it can happen to anyone. I always wonder if mine is doing that when I go down the highway. I always like to look at my shadow when going in the right direction to see if my roof looks like that. I think it starts as a small hole or gap somewhere and grows from there. Obviously their roof is not glued down or sealed properly. You might want to mention on this forum where you were and at what time you saw it so maybe someone will know who it was and can inform them to get that checked out before it gets worse, and it will.:nonono:

Well I saw it yesterday August 21 he was traveling from north to south on i35 when we first noticed it. And we turned off on west ave along 410 north he was heading west on 410 in San Antonio texas when we last saw him. It looked like a late 2014 to early 2015 redwood with black and maroon paint job he was driving a layer model maroon/red ford 1 ton. I hope it was good enough info because I would hope if someone saw that on my trailer they would try to let me know

Did it come apart in the front seam and then catch air?

I see them going down the road quite a bit. I'm sure most don't know it is happening, and I can never figure a way to tell them. My hand signals usually get return fire :hide:

I get up on my roof to sweep off the slide at each campsite. While I'm up there I look for signs of this happening. I still can't believe the RV industry can't come up with a better roofing system.

I also see trailers going down the highway with the front caps smashed in by the wind.

Yes, RW got us a new roof. There was a small slice in the old one about 2" long, drivers side very near the front cap. Looked like a utility knife cut. Allowed enough air in to bubble the front 4' of roof. The dealer spent 41 hours on the replacement.

What was your first indication there was a problem? I try to get on my roof every couple of months and do an inspection. Just last night I was adding some additional Alpha Sealant to the TV antenna base as it was starting to shrink and had a couple of holes opening up.

Our first indication was after 3 days on the road, when we pulled into Gulf Waters in Corpus, a guy chased us down and said "there is something wrong with your roof" Got out and had a huge blister about 4 feet long and across the entire rig. A RW certified mobile tech found the slice, put an ugly patch and dicor all over it to get us home
