I want to start a new thread about nothing, and let it run...

"The 5 gallon solar shower is so much simpler."

Somehow, on first reading, I read this as a 5-gallon golden shower. I thought, hey no judgment. Whatever you're into.

"I swear when I did my solar/lithium battery conversion I looked EVERYWHERE around the house and could NOT find a single 2/0 capable lug crimping tool!"

Get a 0.25¢ chisel at a yard sale then take an angle grinder and dull the edge until it's nice and rounded. Couple of whacks with a hammer and you can crimp just about anything.

I had a hydraulic crimper for up to 1/0.
I finally bought this for my bigger (rv only)stuff.

It's a chisel end with an
Anti-whack your hand
Feature

Sadly,
If you'll let me modify it with a car radiator instead of a tank, thus being able to use it as a radiant heater AND a water heater...
I have all that stuff, here and now, along with the 12v radiator fan and pump for the radiant part.
There's a faction of us who could have that built before breakfast.

Have to...can.
Don't have to...won't.

Several years ago watching a Watch Wes Work episode he touted a hydraulic crimper from Northern Tool for only $19 shipped with all the dies. I picked one up and have used it many times with boat, RV, and inverter projects. I had the whack a mole crimper but saw the value in that hydraulic crimper.

They have a different model now for $420.

Above and pic is a Nice tool to prevent the stranded wire in the hole fist-fight.
You still have a hole to hit but it won't be upside down under the dash as your spouse holds a flashlight and only half of the strands cooperate...over and over.

The above hydraulic takes three hands to use but is nice to have. The next time I use it I'll take the time to make a bench mount for it.
I'm thinking maybe just two quickfist on a 1x4x6 plank in my vise as a mount.

Hf now has quickfist knock-offs...

Where you "gonna find one of these old water heaters that goes in an RV"?
And an inverter?
And a battery
And a propane tank
And a regulator
And a pump
And a bucket
And hoses

The 5 gallon solar shower is so much simpler.
RV wanted add may get you the water heater, and inverter. Use BBQ for propane, battery from the boat, bucket and hose should be around, and pumps are cheep on Amazon. Your way is easier, but hard to do it your way with a tent though. I don't do tents!

Since I didn't have one laying around (two years ago) this is what I bought... considered a cost of doing business for upgrading to lithium and having a proper tool for the job. Admittedly I have used it a couple times since. Even with the cost of a few specialized tools, my self install was less than half of the cost of hiring it out.

An inner tube full of water in the az sun. A piece of fuel line clamped to the shade valve. Where you filled it is where it stays.
You'll smell like harbor freight after your shower.
Pre solar shower.

The above is why we have an rv.
I am now far too financially secure and far too prissy to stand in the mud to take a shower outside in a 44° windchill.

Amen!

I'm about to take a nap
In the insulated rv
parked in the heavily insulated behemoth
That's 100yards from the tortilla making class my spousal unit is having for her Squirrel Squad.
The cackle is mind-bending.

Me
Electric blanket
Dead quiet.

Edited two minutes later:
Nope
Text says SOMEONE(I don't recognize the number) is coming over to get a huge Rubbermaid type shed I gave them.(I paid $5 for it at an estate sale)

Damn.

Edit two minutes later.
It's the ex brother in law.

We threw away the sister and kept him.

Edit
I said at that price (free) I wasn't going to help with dissasembly and loading it in the cold and wind and spitting sprinkle. I've got my coat/and hat on and am headed out to help.

The shed loaded,
And the rest of the story:
While loading the shed I didn't want to help with a neighbor called me.

Duck, I jack-knifed my 3/4ton and my trailer.
Ok. I'll be right there.
Me and shed brother in law jump in the polaris(winch and snatch block and kenetic rope).
We get there, only a mile away and it's not jackknifed it's come off the ball and has rolled up under his trailer.
I have them stand on the end of the trailer as I lift the tongue roll the trailer back and set it on the ball.
Ten minutes involved including travel.
Someone had a mouse die in their truck and wanted me to smell where it was be cause they couldn't find it.

Still no nap, I missed the hot tortillas, hungry...getting in the hot tub.

A penguin and an elephant was taking a bath. The penguin said: will you pass me the soap? The elephant said: what do I look like a typewriter! My wife hates when I tell this joke. It’s not meant to be funny but I enjoy watching people’s reactions when I tell it. They know it’s a joke and want to laugh but are confused at the same time. I’m a little warped because it makes me laugh every time. lol

Anyone know how to remove the front of this rotating vent without breaking it? I swear it just pops off the center hub... ??

Never mind folks!! I got it. Just pried from the front with a flathead

I'm installing a tankless RO/UV filter under the kitchen sink. I need to mod the backside of this vent. There's a fair amount of wasted space in there.

Young female bobcat at the house this morning.
Picture was taken while I'm in my recliner.
