I want to start a new thread about nothing, and let it run...

Have we had an update from the guy who was too adamant about
"48volts is the future"
and was unreasonably converting his rv from 12v to 48v?

I'll swap over if there's a compelling reason to do so.

These are the preliminaries for my New mod that has been planned since 8/2018. It's 99% finished and now just needs a test drive to check it out.

Very very easy to do:
Paper for making a pattern.
a strip of aluminum bar from a box store
self tapping screws(i use 1/4-20bolts on everything I build)
a heavy rubber material
two hours.

This will close the engine bay like an engine bay should be.
All air now ducted through the radiator when at speed just like any normal vehicle.

It might kill a bit of the low hertz buffering we sometimes perceive.

It will compliment my new wheel wells.

The very cool looking textured and fiber reinforced stiff rubber sheet we're using is the tread from a treadmill.

I was going to cut and heat 5gallon buckets into sheets and mould them to fit but this stuff is very stiff and went in with minimum effort.

Do we think I'll pick up any mpg?
This mod has to be good for the same horsepower chrome makes.

My fenderwell install(the link above)was a few pages back in this thread.

So to be honest. I see a slide in how I’m using this forum. I use to enjoy just reading everything and learning. I find myself reading to learn and reading to see how Ducksface reacts to various posts!🍿

Nice kit! I like the nippers and side cutters. I have that same shrink tube kit. My electrical kit lives in a fairly cheap Harbor Freight "doctor bag".

An award for patience should be awarded to us all.
I often wonder what people do/did for a living.

6500 to 7000ft elevation.
I never ever wore a hat until we moved up here where the uv is intense.
Hats:
Winter
Summer
Cold
Bad weather/snowing
Wind
Disposable.

Today was wind.

Never use a hat until one spring I was out all day. Early evening I touched the top of my head and wow. My wife verified it was sun burned. Lost a lot of hair over that winter. Almost all gone on top now. Hats are a must for me.

Arriving tomorrow. Standard power port (cigarette lighter) size. Power Starlink Mini directly from 12v instead of using inverter.

Amazing... built in 12v to 30v boost converter. What will they think of next??

So thought you guys would find this interesting. We are up here in Newfoundland and most of the camp sites are 30 amp only. That is not what is interesting. What is interesting is that there is just a 30 amp socket with a weather cover. You must plug in hot. No circuit breaker at the pedestal. At first I thought this was crazy but then realized it is just like a wall outlet in your house, except it is 30 amps. They run 10-2 buried cable from the circuit breaker panel to each individual pedestal. The campground we are in now even has a 30 amp to 50 amp adapter fastened to the pedestal for those with a 50 amp power cable.

We have only been in one campground that had the conventional pedestal with 50, 30, and 20 amp circuit breakers with corresponding sockets. That campground was just an open field that catered to American caravans. While we were there it was full of large Class A's, some with tag axles. We see very few motorhomes towing a toad here. Everything from 24 foot to 35 foot drive around without a toad. Here on the island you are allowed to dry camp anywhere you can find a location. That does not mean you don't need to check if it is ok. The Walmart's in St John's do not allow overnight camping. Here is a link to a public dry camping location near the lighthouse in Bonavista:

Pretty much how we did it in the Weapons Release Shop USAF, RAF Laken Heath early 1970’s. We were trained to scan each drawer in the box before we left a plane. If a tool was missing and couldn’t be found, the plane was red X ed, couldn’t fly until the tool was found. I’ve continued this practice since.
The friends and family that I allow in my shop marvel at the organization and think I have OCD, but in all these years I’ve only lost one socket. Every time I saw the empty spot it drove me nuts, finally had to buy a replacement, I think my wife took it.
