I called my current insurance carrier to get a quote to insure our new Redwood, we were talking and decided we did not need to change any coverage and I waited for a premium quote, she came back on line and gave me a quote of $3600 every 6 months! One of my employees had to call 911 as I had a heart attack ( not really but you get my point). My question to all of you is do you have any suggestions on insurance carriers? I wish I could put all my insurance in place but I have not one company that can handle all my needs and be reasonably priced.

I would check around we got insurance for around $700.00 a year with $1000.00 deductable. But we have all insurance under one company. (Auto owners) Also heard that Good Sam Club has some good rates.

We went with Blue Sky.through American Adventure Insurance, 888-930-3680.They were recommended by our dealer. We payt $524.00 a year with $500 deductible, if the 36re is totaled within 5 years they will replace it with a new 36re or one of similar price and quality rather than cash value at the time of the loss. We also got the 24 hour emergency road service rider . If you didn't want that the premium drops to $495 a year. You might check Good Sam Club also. I've heard their rates are very competitive.

Happy trails

Believe it or not I have good sam now they are the ones who gave me the 3600 dallor quote.

Good sam quoted me 712.00. American quoted me 520.00. for the 36RE fully loaded.

Hi All,

We live in Ontario Canada and have govt "no fault"... way more expense than most US plans. I have car and home insurance with one company. Because of the value of our 38 BR we plan to buy, they would put the trailer under our home insurance with a $250 deductible and full replacement value for 10 years. The cost is $900 per year. There is no additional cost for number of miles towed when done this way.

Good Luck!

I have always had Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance on my car and truck. So, I insured our Redwood 36 RL with them also. But, I do only have actual cash value for both comprehensive and collision with $500. deductible on both. This coverage is currently costing me $359. per year.

I am thinking of finding a new insurance carrier, for the Redwood only, that I could get coverage for replacement value and coverage for contents.

When I have seen this topic discussed on other forums, it seems that most folks have coverage costing in the range of $700. to $1200. depending their situation.

I checked with Good Sam (GMAC)and they wanted $2200 for 6 months. I called Progressive quoted $1250 for 12 months and Cintinnati insurance got me for $435 per year. So make sure you shop around

This was all for $1000 deduct. and with flawless driving record.

I called progressive and they quoted me 1500 for the year with 500 deductible I am still shopping. I also have a perfect driving record. Edited by: KR2011

Hi KR2011:
I have the same quote from Progressive for the roughly same amount - $1,577/yr,$500 ded, and "Purchase Price" coverage for Rec use (not full-time). Also, have same quote from Foremost for $1,574, but benefits seems less comprehensive.

I was wondering if you did any further "shopping" and how you did. Have only about two weeks left before RL comes in so I have to make a move soon.

Check with American Adventure Insurance 888-930-3680. mine will be $500 deductible, $4,000 personal replacement cost.$522.00 per year.

I called Foremost and they have a 10 year replacement ( 120% of value for the first 5 years and 100% of value for the next 5 years ) 250 deductable and 5000 personal contents for 1050 a year. I'm still looking.Edited by: KR2011

RollsRoyce,
You can insure for what you want. the first five years is total replacement. 6 through 10 years is the stated amount. call them. they can explain all of the option.

I would compare online, and if you have any local insurance offices around and would prefer to go with them I would lay down the offer I got somewhere else, to see if they are willing to match it.

It is simply amazing to me how their are so many different premium prices for the exact coverage it is almost mind blowing to figure out who has the best coverage.

There's more than just price to consider. A cheap rate isn't worth the paper the policy is printed on if all they give you is grief if you file a claim with a thousand reasons they shouldn't pay. Our present rig is insured through Travelers, but we'll have to switch the Redwood as Travelers has a 50K cutoff on the value of the rig and I'm afraid our Redwood retail is a little more than their limit. Talked to our Agent this afternoon to let them do some research and see what they can come up with.

You are absolutely right on the cheap rate I'll choose the mid line premium and make sure they are a reputable company.
