It was a matter of time...

Don't think that is what it is saying. It is saying that RV's are not manufactured homes. Nothing about making it illegal to live in your RV. The catch will be if Redwood could still say "Full Time". They can stop saying full time but not do anything to their warranty and all will be good.

“a factory build vehicular structure, not certified as a manufactured home, designed only for recreational use and not as a primary residence or for permanent occupancy.”

"This means your tiny homes will either fall under HUD regulations, forcing you to comply with HUD building codes, or will be put on the exempt list, making your home illegal to use as a primary or permanent residence
This is a huge hit for the thousands upon thousands of people who choose to give up their homes every year to live full-time in RVs and tiny homes. If this proposed regulation is adopted by HUD, most tiny homes that are built upon a mobile frame will be subjected to this regulation, and in essence be declared RVs that are not suitable for year-round living."

Seems fairly clear to me.

Looks like some of us will need to rethink our future plans. GD government! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Federal Government trying to Outlaw Tiny Homes and RV Living
How would they even enforce anything like that when it comes to RV's. They would have to follow us 365 days/year and investigate all of our addresses to see how we actually live. I don't believe that any RV is actually up to standards of full time living. They can say it but we all know it isn't true. If all RV's were up to standards then we would all be pulling houses weighing megapounds around behind us and they would be on concrete foundations.:D

I think it's another very gray area, like stopping at weigh stations & are CDLs required, all of which would be near impossible to enforce without employing thousands of officers/agents.

I think it will be an opportunity for RV manufacturers to use a price adder/option for full time living. "Oh, you want to use your RV for fulltiming, well it's going to cost you X to have a HUD endorsement".

Not that I'm a cynic...

George, that's a good, clarifying article. Thanks for the reference.

Thanks George for grounding it a little, and thanks Tom for bringing it up. Good topic! I'll be curious to see where it goes.

OK, I have to ask. Why? Why does the government feel they need to get involved in this. Do they think these little homes are unsafe? They losing money? What is the reason? Don't they have their hands in enough stuff as it is?

Because most people living in RVs or small homes pay less tax and seem to enjoy life. The governments opinion I'm sure is somehow based on control and taxes.

That's why we the people have to change our government to what it was intended to be,
GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE.
Can I get an Amsn.

Brad I agree but if someone had written a book 20 years ago predicting some of the ways things are now, nobody would have believed them. Freedoms are being stripped a little at a time.

Before y'all start loading your guns and stockpiling ammunition, you might want to look up "FR-5877-P-01" on Snopes. Then you can sleep soundly in your tiny, moveable houses. :socool:
