Janet wants to by me a Kindal for this Christmas. We do haul a lot of books around, and I can more than likely save about 200 pounds. has any one use one of these, or the Nook or the Sony, if so how hard is it to do the down loads and your opinion Thanks

I have the Kindel app installed on my Droid (smart phone), Very user friendly program. Old style Kindel's on sale tomorrow for $89.99. Current generation is $139. 99 for the basic model. Considering picking one up for my bride.

DW has a Nook and I can tell you she is nuts about her Nook. Very easy to read and very simple to download. They have a model that has 3G in addition to the wifi, so you don't have to be at a wifi hotspot to access the net. The 3G model is a little bit more expensive to purchase, but there is no charge to use the 3G. They just came out with a Nook Color that has a full color touch screen, I'm getting very strong hints that I am going to be buying her one for Christmas

Something else she like about the Nook over the Kindle is that some (not all) of the books can be shared. She can loan a book to, or borrow one from a friend for 14 days. (If you don't get read before the 14 days are up you have to buy it.)

Just bought my wife the next generation Kindle. I also bought the spineless leather case, you can fold it back like a book cover. It also has a LED light built in. I have read many 5 star reviews of the new Kindle.

I paid $139 and $39 for the case. The books range from free to $14 a piece.

I just bought my wife a Kindle with Wifi and 3G. She's on the road alot for work and can use the 3G to download a new book if she doesn't have a book downloaded to read. Otherwise she can use the Wifi at home and download thru our home internet. The nice thing is the 3G is free and it appears to be available in the cities we travel to most. Got the Kindle, a case and $50 gift card for around $250.

We have kindles. They work for us. My wife is a readaholic and she takes it everywhere. No complaints. Have had no experience with the other brands.

We were recently on a cruise vacation and the E-readers far outnumbered books from what I saw on deck.

I have a Kindle 3G wifi and I am crazy about it, you don't have to be hooked up to a computer to download a book, what I do is usually if I am shopping at Costco or the like, I peruse the book aisle and write down the titles and authors of all the books I would normally like to buy (also write down Costco's price just to compare) then when I get home I just open my Kindle and do a search for the different books compare the price (Kindle is always cheaper) and then click "buy" and the book is downloaded in under 20 seconds. The Kindle holds 3500 books so you will never be without a book. I think you can have up to 7 people on the same account, at least that was the number last time I looked it may be more now. We have 3 people on our account, myself, hubby and daughter who attends university 4000 km away (makes no difference if you are all in the same location or not to be on the same account), anyway any books I buy will appear on my hubby's or daughters archives so that we can all access and read each others books etc. If you want to know all you ever wanted to know and more about Kindle, just type Kindleforum in your search bar and you will find a kindle forum where everything Kindle is discussed, it is a great site and you will see that some people even use the Kindle to read emails etc, there is even an app to write your grocery lists etc on the Kindle. Plus you will see one of the categories is all about bargain books, there are tons of free books, classics, .99, 2.99 etc books, people post the names in a thread as they discover them - just tons of Kindle info available on that site - enjoy!
