I’ve read posts on this forum for 4 years. Most are griping about all the problems they’ve had. Let me say this, first and foremost, if you have no abilities to fix stuff, don’t buy a motorhome. Or any RV for that matter. There is no uniformity in construction that your car has. My 2019 Freedom Traveler A27, although not perfect, has worked marvelously for what we bought it to do. We’re about to deadhead home from Colorado. Over 3 months and 8000 miles so far, our little coach has performed very well. A minor leveler issue in Grand Canyon was fixed with a call to Lippert. The screw and bracket found in the bathroom floor have yet to be figured out. All systems are functioning as they should. We’ve been able to see so many “Oh wow!” Sights that we can’t hope to explain all the where all we’ve been. We’ve stayed in over 30 parks. Dodged tornados. Been hammered with hail. All is good. Yes, early on after purchase we had a water leak. Thor sent a service tech to our location 4 times, at their expense, and finally got it fixed. We put a 2nd AC unit on it. Swapped the sofa for recliners. Added a few other mods. But when it’s all said and done, it’s been great. I understand that it’s a crap shot as to what type of product someone bought. The couple of issues we had wouldn’t have shown up in a PDI. But , as Duck would say, we’ve made it our own. We’ve enjoyed our experiences in travel in this unit. And I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasurable travel experience as we’ve had over these last 90 days. So there. At least one positive post on the forum. Happy travels.

Enjoy the positive fun camping 🏕 view.
Same here.
When we ever go negative. We say to each other, how many humans have a house on wheels and someone died today.
Enjoy

We haven't had a bad day in ours or because of ours.

While we all know I'm not
Eloquent or succinct or short-winded,
That's all I have, just one sentence.

Never had a vacation interrupted by a MH (or RV) problem.
I have a list of things that needs fixing or improved that seems never ends BUT those don't take away my joy of getting out.

I-just-love-to-drive the MH... I tell that to my wife every single time we go out..

That being said, I do keep a constant eye "looking for trouble" and address the issues: Immediately if is something that can let us on the side of the road, or when its time comes as I go down the issue list....

Dad has a ranch, Brother has a motorcycle, sister is crazy for diving(ocean), children also ride, etc...
ALL of them have issues with their preferred activities but those come with the activity...

People will fail, companies will fail, systems will fail, etc...
Don't get mad when things go wrong, for this is the rule!
Instead be glad when, surprisingly, things go well!!!

They are not problems, they are projects !!!:thumb:

I've just passed my 5th anniversary with my Hurricane. Man I was pissed that first summer with how much work I had to do on a brand new RV. Every time we went out on a trip something minor would pop up. But the electricity worked every time, the water system worked every time, the drains worked, the engine ran like a watch, the A/Cs pumped out cold air. Nothing stopped us from using it. We fixed all those minor things and did some personalizing over the first year. Five years later I like the coach and can hardly wait for the next trip. The only reason I would get rid of it would be to downsize into something more nimble on the road.

I do enjoy knowing that if I'm in Montana, Florida or somewhere I can't spell, my bed is going to be my bed. Same pillow, same blanket as last night.

EDIT: and same woman as the last 44 years.

Or, as an option, a person can build their own so that they have no one to gripe to but themselves. And since build complexity is limited to owner skills, he/she should be able to fix anything that goes wrong. ;)

As crazy as this may sound, DIY builds have been made very popular because any of us can purchase a large cargo van directly from RAM, Mercedes, or Ford and then make it whatever we want, limited only by our imagination, skills, and budget. I’m thinking it could be fun. :thumb:

My quest started as a DIY project.

It was going to be a 1980's autocar cabover 4x4 semi with a short toyhauler built onto it.
I wanted the super C thing so I would never be the reason for a traffic blockage.
Short, fast, quick enough. An American Mann is what it was to become, but low to the ground.

But
When I saw the 24.1 floor plan I started taking reference pictures of the bathroom and the salesman said I should drive it.

I did.
So ,
I didn't.

Saved me about $250,000 and 3,000 hours.

Found a 24.1 that the seller hadn't yet made his third payment, drove 2,600 miles to get it, paid,1/2 price, drove it home that awful Halloween the east coast cancelled in 2018(?).
Five tornadoes in our first five hours.
You can't ever scare us again with weather.
And
It's short, fast, quick enough.

My plan changed from
Scavenger hunt/jigsaw puzzle/cut and paste
To
Drove that preassembled 24.1 RV kit home.

Got home
and
Made. That. 'KIT'. Mine.

I think RV Mfg should require that all new RV owners complete a form directly with the RV Mfg. They should make them sign additionally from what the dealer does that they have Inspected the RV in full or had it inspected by professional before allowing the sale.

I think in general owners tend to know if they buy used to check it out in full, but a lot of people don't how critical that PDI is. They just know it is new and under warranty and there is tendency to think, how bad could it be?

I got lucky to find this site before buying. I had to walk twice but I had a lot of people that I didn't know telling me to walk and don't look back. Takes $%#@ for some to walk away from a shiny new anything.

Our coach has performed admirably! Maybe I’ll keep it. Wanna visit Duck! We missed each other. Got a place for me Duck? Think I’ll wait till it cools off a bit. 😊

We all want to go!!

As soon as I get me one of those elite fancy dancy TPMS systems, and a 4 corner weigh. I hate to be on his property with one of my duallies off by 1 psi. I also need to get an Altimeter installed in the RV. I don't know what elevation I may have to park on the property? I may have to adjust generator for air.

You can borrow my tpms.
I think he is at 18,000 feet :)

Too hot now.
But you all have ac.
6500ft. Hiking will be hard. Yes, you adjust for generator.

I'm thinking of organizing a Grand Canyon meet up.

Gritz, mrs Gritz, spousal unit and I will also try to manage a
Meet in the middle
In Oklahoma City(ish)

We'll do a
Kill switch
Or
Light bar
Seminar/workshop or something.

Maybe borrow some four corner scales.

Nice 95 degrees there!

I saw 110 in Arizona, they say it is even hotter at the bottom of the Grand Canyon than the rim? I don't have 4 wheel drive on my RV; so I may not ever know?

We have a family trip in the works the last weekend in August and will be in New Mexico and Colorado. We will just be driving doing nothing special, but trying to get to Denver.

We usually hang out around Raton Pass on the way. I like the Sierra Grande Rest Stop in New Mexico. It is where I adjust the settings on my genny for 5,000 ft elevation. It is also where I reduce the tire pressure by .3 psi (81.7 psi) because the air inside the RV is lighter. Where would we be without digital air gauges :whistling:

OKC ish is in my range. The Grand Canyon will require some serious planning for, even Albuquerque is a tuff haul although we will be about 200 miles? from Albuquerque when we hit Raton Pass

Hey Koldman,
The new 770 monitor for the TST TPMS system has built in GPS with speed and altimeter. It is touch screen and super easy to use.

I actually have 8 RVi Tire Patrol Sensors that work very well that came with my slightly used RVi Command Tablet. While I got it all for a good price I am trying to sell the sensors while they still look new, but keeping the tablet and hub. I want sensors with replaceable batteries. My sensors are the original packaging to be fresh for new owner.

In the meantime, I actually have a Garmin RV890 that will give me elevation and if my Garmin goes awol, I have a Elevation app on my phone. It is all quite handy.

Thanks
