Looks like quite a storm coming through the US. I'm under a blizzard WARNING from 5:00 pm this afternoon through 7:00 pm tomorrow night. 10 - 16 inches of snow accumulation forecast for that time period with high winds and blowing, drifting snow. Sounds like great fun

Chicago is getting hit now and they're forecasting up to 2 foot of snow accumulation with all the goodness that blizzards provide.

Wishing all of you safe travels, heat, electricity, food and no emergencies.

Al:

You guys bundle up and stay warm. It is currently 30* in College Station, TX. No snow but high winds with a wind chill of around 20*. Nothing like what y'all are used to, but a bit nippy for us Texans.

Nippy is right, George. Got back from the Rio Grand Valley late last week where the temp was in the 70's & 80's.

Snow's missing us but the cold isn't! Just got back from picking up mail and it was -4. Overnight is expected -23. But, +32 for a high on Friday!

Snow is the white stuff on your shirt collar if you do not frequently wash your hair.

It is cold and windy for South Texas. Got anything liquid out of the Cruiser yesterday morning and added another dollop of RV antifreeze to the P-traps. Should be in the upper 70s by the time of the rally next month.

boy, I left town just in time....6 - 8 inches and another storm on the way.

Now, the neighbors are PO'd at us, as we are in Crystal River, FL...sunnyand 80 degrees.

Heading for the Panhandle.

Seabee, What park are you in at Crystail River, and how do you like it. We are Planning on going there in a couple of weeks. We have been checking out some of the parks. Any we should stay away from. Thank you

we are staying 1 night at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park. The sites seem to be roomy. This site is "grass", although it is level.....site 59.

Has a screened, heated pool. Plenty of activities. Gated campground.

Will advise if it has any concrete "pads", as we leave tommorrow.

We would stay here, again.

Don't know about any others.

Haven't been out to clear the driveway yet, but 800+ school closings in the area @ 4:00 a.m. and there was a 3' drift across the door when I let the dog out. News reports snow plows are unable to clear one of the main routes in the area due to cars stuck in 4' drifts.
First to wake up and warm up. Next to clear the driveway, but snow is still coming down at 1-2 inches per hour and then to decide if I want to brave the roads and head into work.

You better take the day off Al. Won't be much going on at work today. Claims will start coming in tomorrow.

what is snow????

Snow is something that I see our Texas friends have gathered up for the Superbowl.
Gotta make those Packers and Steelers feel at home.

I'll be happy to send a few metric tons of the white stuff. It's already packed down and ready

I did end up staying home. Got stuck in 4wd at the end of the street. Came back home & I've been hunkered down all day.

No I actually came out of retirement, I have friend (yep I do have a least one friend) that needed a little help one or two days a week. .it is now up to five or six days. pays very little but get me out of the house, and allows me to go camping when I feel the need

Life is pretty much back to normal. Normally takes 15 - 20 minutes to clear my 20' x 70' driveway, but with the big two stage Simplicity it took 1 1/2 hours + I didn't clear my sidewalk until late in the day. We got about 19 inches of snow in 24 hours. In fact, it just occurred to me that I forgot to rake the snow off the roof.
I don't know if roads are plowed like downstate Michigan in Wisconsin, but driving yesterday was like driving in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Up there they don't use salt and very little sand. Pretty much what it was like here. Major arteries were either clogged with stuck vehicles or two tracks through the snow.
I feel sorry for the folks in Chicago who not only got it worse than we did on this side of Lake Michigan, but they're still getting hammered by extreme cold and more snow on the way. Saw the pictures on t.v. yesterday of cars stuck on Lake Drive in Chicago. Glad it wasn't like that here. Even my sister in Mesa, AZ had an ice storm from the system and no power last night.
Thirsd worse winter storm I've been through. 1978 was tougher and 1967 the worst ever for me.

I'll take multiple inches of snow any day over this 1 inch of ice we have on everything. Shovel doesn't work on it, about the only thing to do is hammer it away. Or wait until spring when it melts.
