Link to Ed Felker's Vegas/Axis Manual

ED,
Thanks for your continued support, and the work that goes into the sustainment of this document. My in-laws just purchased a 2015 Vegas 24.1 to match our 2015 Axis 24.1.
The first thing I did for them was to print and share this manual.
He's old school Army...so I'm sure he enjoys the pictures.:coolsmiley:

One of the Vegas/Axis owners here (ducksface) on the forum provided a description and photos to another new owners question on opening the hood. The question pertained to the upward opening hood on the 2018+ models. I added his explanation and photos to the owners manual I compiled from forum inputs.

The file on this post has been updated.

That is a very frustrating aspect of my 2018 Axis. With the hood going up it almost completely blocks the engine and you have to duck under. Not easy for this old geezer. I’d much rather lean over a bit more.

Thank you Col…. We just purchased a 2023 Vegas 24.1. And since this is our 5th RV, I know how incomplete manuals are….

And thank you for your service.

Updated information to get to link (23 Feb 2022)

This is an update for the Axis/Vegas Manual. Thanks to David Marchand, we have an update to the manual that includes info on many of the system upgrades on Axis/Vegas through 2020+. More on that later below.

To date, approximately 18,000 owners have either downloaded or requested a manual in an email to me. On the Forum here the manual has been accessed about 46,000 times. When I originally compiled it in 2015, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be downloaded and used by so many owners. I want to thank the many folks that replied to me with kind words about the manual.

The new update (Version 9.0) is available on my iCloud Drive as a .pdf file. I removed my ONE DRIVE location since so many people were having problems downloading the file. Hopefully the iCloud location fixes that problem. Below is the link to the shared file.

https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/0ba7GrUxtldHW290GUP-LjzQg#Vegas_Axis_Manual_9

Version 9.0 has an Appendix that begins on page 51, and contains information on the following model years 2020+: BMPro and A/C Controls, Girard Tankless Water Heater, Axxera Backup Camera Display, BIM 160, Battery Disconnect Switch, Solar Panels, Winegard Connect 2.0, SaniFlush, Ford 7.3 Liter V8 and E350/450 Chassis changes, Engine fluid checking & changing, Engine Room Fuse Panel, and Battery Access. I also added an explanation on how to open the hood on 2018+ (upward opening hood) models.

If you are still having a problem downloading from the link, send me an email and I'll forward a copy of the manual to your email address. My email is bevedfelker@live.com.[/I][/B]
We are new to the forum and new to the World of Thor! But, I am very appreciative of being made aware of this manual and very impressed with it! I am a retired Critical Care, High Risk L&D, also with 10 years in Nursing Informatics, RN I have designed, programed, tested and taught clinical computer software programs and I recognize the amount of work that is entailed in creating a manual such as this one! Suffice it to say:
"I AM IMPRESSED! and truly appreciate having it available to us!"

When I click on the link this is what I get: Item Unavailable
The owner stopped sharing, or you don’t have permission to open this item.

How do I get permission?

When I click on the link, this is what I get (see attached picture):

If you are signed into your Apple account on your browser perhaps you need to try signing out first.

How are you trying to access the link? Device? Browser?
Is the "Item unavailable" message from your browser? AV Software? iCloud?

If you click download to iCloud and sign in you get the unavailable error. At least that is what happened when I tried.

I will use most of Ed's manual with my new Thor Gemini

I just purchased a new Thor Gemini, same floor plan as my 24.1 and can use much of the material in Ed's manual. The Gemini is a dream to drive with the safety features on the Transit chassis. Of course many will not agree with my choice to buy the Gemini but let me talk briefly about my motivations. Though I loved many things about my Axis, here are a few things that I did not like. I did not like that the Axis had only one door to get in and out. Some on this forum have been locked out when their lock broke. I do not like the difficulty servicing the Axis Something as simple as an oil change or replacing a fuse becomes a nightmare. If your chassis battery needs attention...well, we all know what that means. I could go on but now I walk to the front of the RV and pop the hood. Everything is there except the battery which is under the drivers seat and easily reached. All of the modern safety features are incorporated in the Transit package. Driving it is truly like driving a large SUV or pickup. When I get out I'm amazed how much RV is behind me. I'm beginning to ramble. Thanks Ed for all the information you have amassed. Did I mention it comes with a Lithium battery ?

The Gemini 24KB does have a similar floor plan to the Thor Axis/Vegas 24.1, but the underlying chassis are very different. I don’t know if the systems: plumbing and electrical are similar. So take Felker’s manual with a grain of salt when you apply it to the Gemini.

Also the old “nothing beats cubic inches” principle makes me wonder how a 3.5 liter engine holds up while pushing 11,000 lbs GVWR. Compare that to the new 7.3 liter V8 engine pushing 11,500 lbs on the new Axis 24.1.

I am sure that the Eco Boost engine does get better mpg. But how long will it last?

David

Buy the motorhome that makes you happy. I'm happy with my Vegas. I've been wrenching most my life so oil changes and battery work don't bother me. In fact, it's a past time. The only thing that erks me the most is when we're dumping. The location is a little awkward but squatting down with the access door on my knee seems to work the best. Never heard of a door lock breaking. Engine power in the Vegas makes me :) !

I don't have Apple-anything so how would I access your checklist? Do you simply send a link to my email?

The shared link to download the manual appears to not be public anymore. I'll try to contact Ed to see if he can resolve it, but this manual is a prime candidate to be put on the RESOURCES tab on this new forum software.

I'm working with the Forum's administrator to post my manual on the RESOURCES tab. In the interim, use my email and I will forward you a copy of the manual. Emal is bevedfelker@live.com.
Thanks Ed. While we wait for the permanent solution; anyone who wants the manual can also PM me (start a conversation) with your email address (or I'll use the one you have in your profile) to send you a copy that Ed has shared with me for posting on the Forum in the RESOURCES tab area.

I just bought a 2025 Thor Axis 24.1 and this manual has provided so much great information. I will start modifying it for my specific year model, but it was so good to have this. Thank you Ed Felker for sending it to me since the link wasn't working a couple weeks ago. Also, the insert that he included about what to do during your inspection before you sign on the dotted line was spot on.
