I have a 2018 Chateau Thor 31E.

After the jacks have been down for a week or so, I go to reset my levelors-I am staying for a while in the same place-and my Lippert reads that the Jacks are up when they are down.
I need to reset them and I would like to understand why the system "forgets" that they are down and I have to reset.

Suggestions? IN the past once it is reset it will retract and level fine on it's own.

What does "reset" mean?

You extend levelers
You retract levelers
You manually or automatically level the RV
You turn the control panel on
You turn the control panel off.

When you turn the control panel on are you saying the "jacks down" light is not on?

every month I turn my engine on-run it for 15 minutes. Pull my slide in and try to retract my levelers. The goal being to relevel my rig- I am on my 2nd month and cannot retract my levelers and would like to make sure all is ok so that I can do this.

The control panel for my 2018 Chateau Thor has the green electronic panel reader on it- not this black one

When I turn on the control panel.
It says
JACKS UP- they are not up, they are down.
I use the Enter and RETRACT reset and nothing, message stays the same.

I am trying to figure out:
Why I have the message
How do I get the leveling system to recognize that the Jacks are down, to auto retract them so that I can reset the level?

It does this every single time I the levelers are down for a period of time.

I cannot go to an RV place. I am in place for a job contract. I need to be able to fix this in location and keep being able to do it. I am not in a place where I can run off to the closest RV Service Place.
I am located in a small town on the Oregon Coast

When you say "green electronic panel reader on it" do you mean it has a LCD display? Maybe post a picture of your panel.

There are some Lippert systems with electric jacks that can be "rehomed" to synchronize the jacks with the control panel. Are your jacks electric or hydraulic?

My fluids were recently changed. So all is good there
NOTHING happens when I ask it to retract.
I have a manual retract sequence that I am going to try.
Honestly I am not an idiot. This is an advanced rig for me as I just upgraded to this rig after being in a 20 year old coachman with no electronics or hydraulics.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know steps to work.

You're not even sure you have a hydraulic leveling system so the generic "My fluids were recently changed" means nothing

I specifically asked if you have held the retract button. Your answer of "NOTHING happens when I ask it to retract" does not answer that question.

I recommend you call Lippert's support line.

Instead of trying to retract the jacks can you push and hold buttons to raise jacks, remember that jacks work in pairs( 2 left jacks or2 front jacks at same time). Maybe the pressure is bleeding off so system thinks jacks are up, after you raise jacks a little then try retract

Try hitting all four down buttons at the same time. Enter and retract at the same time resets the retract time out error.

I have the same display control module, with the small green LED display, and our levelers are hydraulic.

Some things, and I'm sure you're aware of, Parking brake must be engaged, and key in ignition for the levelers to work.

Try disengaging the parking brake, on ours, the jacks will automatically retract fully, then try the hold the multiple button reset for the panel.

When I level, I never allow it to do it in auto. Turn panel on (have parking brake engaged, I have engine running, stow switch to on position), once turned on, use up arrow one time for manual mode and hit enter.

Once in Manual mode, each pair (front, rear, left side, or right side) will deploy if chosen. To retract them, there is an additional button there that says retract. Hit that and then you should be able to retract in pairs manually.

If your panel does not reset, there is a manual over-ride to raise the jacks, I think you mentioned so.
This involves having system off, using a 5/32" allen wrench to lock in any one of the 4 hydraulic valves. Once done, at the end of the motor, remove rubber plug, insert proper socket and spin with a drill motor in a CCW direction. This is how our particular system works. *note, I have only ever done this one jack at a time, and trying to spin with a wrench was fruitless.

Maybe once all are retracted, you will be okay, if not, further troubleshooting will need to be performed. Hopefully no control harness' have been chewed by rodents.

On lippert Jack systems, the JACKS DOWN state means that a pressure switch that turns ON at 3000psi is in the ON state. So it can be misleading. DOWN only means that there is 3000 psi on the switch. One of your jacks may have a leaking seal, or it's possible that there is a seeping leak on one of the connections or hoses. I would try like suggested above, manually drive the jacks down, or perform auto level. If the jacks god down more, lifting the cab up a bit, and then you get the JACKS DOWN indicator, the situation is as stated above. When the jacks are in the UP position, the fluid in the reservoir should be about one inch from the top.

Try this:

Start your engine and put the vehicle into drive. BE SURE TO HAVE PARK BRAKE SET AND YOUR FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. The jacks should retract automatically. This safety feature is built in.

On mine, Transmission position won't trigger the retract, but releasing the parking brake will.

But you're talking to the wind, OP has flown the coop.

Ted is correct. Excerpt from LCI Level-Up manual, the system the OP asked about.

Drive Away Protection System

If the coach's ignition is in the “RUN” position, jacks are down and the operator releases the parking brake, all indicator lights will flash and the alarm beeper will activate. The system will then automatically retract the
jacks until the jacks are fully retracted or the operator resets the parking brake.
