I want to get more clearance between my truck's bed rails and the bottom of the trailer.
If I move the pin box down one set of holes I won't be able to use all the mounting bolts. It currently uses 3 in front and 2 in back. That's 10 bolts when you factor in both sides of the pin box.
If I move it down I'll only be able to put 2 in front and 2 in back for a total of 8.
Have any of you re-positioned your pinbox?
I can't find any installation manuals from Lippert so I'll ask here.

I'm using the B&W Companion hitch and it's already at the highest setting. My only option is to lower the pin box.

Steve, how much clearance do you have now? I actually had the opposite issue. My RL was riding slightly high in front and I wanted to raise my Trail-air. No one else had adjusted theirs in March. I ended up dropping my Reese Elite to the bottom adjustment. I currently have 9" over my GMC.Edited by: 5th_Time

I guess we lucked out, didn't have to change a thing. Our RL rides level and have a good 8 inches clearance. All stock suspension on our Dually with a Reese 20K hitch.

9 inches? Dang!... wish I had 9 inches....of clearance.
I currently have about 5 1/2 and have had contact between the rails for my tonneau cover and the trailer on a couple of occasions. I called Lippert and B&W this morning and neither were helpful. Lippert advised against lowering the pin box any more than it is and B&W doesn't make longer arms.
I hate think about having to replace the hitch or pin box

I use a companion too so I guess the Ford box sides must be lower than Dodge.

The "thickness" of the Trail Air seems to be alot more than the standard hitch - ie. it makes the trailer sit higher. If you'd like me to measuremine from bottom of trailer to skidplate, I'll do that for you - but I'll have to hook up to do that.
