Having issues with the motorized cab window shade binding on our BH35.

It looks like the mechanism is catching or out of time, and binding on one side. a push on that side allows me to complete operation, but it recurs every time.

Looked on the Tho Owners site, here, and on the interwebs, and can't find much about the mechanism at all. Has anyone here worked on one? Looking for advice on tear down/troubleshooting.

Thanks!

The shades are made by MCD, division of Airxel, a division of Thor Industries. The model number is located on the accessories list on the back of one of the bedroom doors. <https://mcdinnovations.com>

Thanks for the quick reply, but the MCD site lists only roller shades.

The Magnitudes have a curved hard shell plastic cable driven system. Their site doesn‘t have anything similar.

I have emailed Thor Owner Support, so I‘ll see what they can offer.

That is one of the few things I havr not tackled. My motor failed and was replaced under warranty. I never open the shade now for feat of it being stuck open on a trip. It gets hot enough in the cab-ove bunk as it is.

I believe a couole guys have worked on theirs so hopefully they will reply.

Best I can tell is you have to remove the entire ceiling covering and possibly the curtain assembly to get at it.

I'm losing hope, as even Thor doesn't know who made it!

The Thor Owners folks pointed me to Irvine Shade and Door in Elkhart, but a call to them was no help. They deny making anything other than soft shades.

I guess I'll live with banging it when it needs to go up, or leaving it closed like Judge.

This is turning into a love/hate relationship...

The Thor Super C's are definitely a Love / Hate relationship!

Send a PM to kwplot34. When he repaired his front cap, I think he might have had the entire cap-over bunk disassembled to insulate it. He might be able to help with how to get at the front shade mechanism.

Greybear,

I had issues right off the bat on my 2020 BH35, they placed that curved rail that the shade rides on to close to the cap and it drags on the systems. Under warranty they moved that rail down about a quarter of an inch and it seems to be working fine ever since. However, I dont place much trust in the system and we dont use the shade that much, just as Judge indicated as if it fails you could get very hot in the front cap area

My shade was doing the same thing-I could open/close it, but only with help from me pushing on one side or the other. Luckily my dealer replaced the entire mechanism under warranty and it appears to work flawlessly now.

Not Thor

I didn’t get the name of manufacture but blue dog Rv in Kalispell Montana fixed mine. The assembly fell apart. Started out like your started, then I heard a bang and one side of shade stopped moving took a few months to repair.

I am new to this web site. I am having trouble with my motorized shade too. If I remove the track screws will the entire thing drop down or are there hidden screws somewhere to get the entire unit removed? If I could get it down I can repair it I think

The shade has a rail on each side that is 2 piece, remove the upper rail on each side then open the shade and it will come down where you can work on it.

Starting to have front shade issues as well.

Starting to have issues with a stuttering / sticking front shade in our new to us 2023 Thor Magnitude LV35. I had suspected it may have needed some type of lube and would be looking for a recommended type either from factory or community. Did not expect to see so many issues and a lack of definitive guidance.

Thankful for all the prior contributions and knowledge

Factory Shipping Screws

I know when I took my unit in with same issue, it turned out the shades have factory screws for shipping only, and are suppose to be removed after installation, guess what, my screws were not removed. Haven’t had a problem since the repair. 1 1/2 years so far.

I just opened the shade on our 2021 Mag XG 32...it is binding half way up but goes down OK. I looked for info on this thread about lubricating the tracks (yes/no?) and or a reset of some sort. Worked fine up till now. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem with my 2020 SV34. I was able to "help" it up and down when it started to bind by having my wife activate the up/down control. It was still under warranty and my dealer replaced it no charge. It has been working fine every since.

Interior cover

My shade just started doing that and I was able to resolve the issue by using 3M on the interior cover above the shade. I noticed the cover was sagging a bit and by using 3M it reduced the friction between the shade and cover. Doing great now.

3M what?

Do you have any idea how many products 3m makes?

3M has almost 30 different brands.

Each brans has many different products.

303

Sorry for not being clearer.
