Anyone know where the capacity of the omni/magnitude compartments would be found? I want to use a couple for tools but don't want to see my tools in my rearview mirror.... Also has nas anyone gotten water in their front compartments? any thoughts would be helpful.

"Storage compartments have load limits. Do not exceed
load limits posted on warning labels."

This is from the very non-helpful owner's manual. I have not encountered water getting into the compartments, but I have only been trough one rainstorm (California, so maybe "storm" might be an overstatement) on one Snow storm in Arizona.

compartment limits

Hello PSD.. Yes the very unhelpful Owners manual Funny how they put safety and BS stickers all over the outside of our coaches ( mine are now gone) but NOTHING on the inside of the doors on the compartments. I been pretty happy for the most part with cust.. service at thor but often for questions like this they are very unhelpful.

Do a load / water test

Put your wife in the storage compartment and in the rain. If she is still there and not wet after 4 hours on the road, you can be assured your tools will be ok.

My wife is always dry no matter where I put her!

I have no idea what the load limits are for the plastic storage boxes. But I carry a toolbox in the back of the Kia Sorrento that we tow. The only time I’ve found water was from the shower drain pipe broken above it. What’s above your compartments.

I wasn't impressed by the plastic storage compartments possible low weight capacity. They seem OK for things like folding chairs but not heavy items. I reinforced the floors with some 1/2" marine plywood (underneath) suspended from the frame above the compartments.

I visited the assembly plant this past summer and on the tour of the factory I asked one of the designers about the capacity of the bays. He told me they were good for 300 lb each

Mine had a 300lb sticker in each compartment.
I haven't read of anyone losing anything through the bottom of one or any detaching from the body.

I don't think I've even read of one cracking.

compartment weight

Thanks Duck, appreciated. I use one compartment for tools and have a jack in an other and of course other items but the tools and the jack are the heaviest but in different compartments.. I just wouldnt want to be headed down the road and be sharing my tools out the bottom LOL... I have no stickers for capacity on any of my compartments.

I rebuilt one of the bins using metal plate and angle iron.
Now tied to the frame in three places it can easily(ashamedly and worthy of shame, probably has) 1000lbs.

storage compartment weight

Duck, Thats awesome.. Love it.. Unfortunately I don't have welding capabilities right now I used to have a fab shop in my garage until I moved south. Now all my stuff is in storage as I havent the room it and trying to find the place to buy or build... before I am to dang old to enjoy using it..

Rear storage on Magnitude pulled away from exterior

I have just noticed that the rear storage area bin bottom has pulled away from the inside of the siding. Bin itself (black plastic part) is fine not cracked in anyway. However, the fasteners (looks like sheet metal screws) along the outside edge that attaches to the exterior have all pull out, including the ones that hold the metal cross strips, and allowed the bin to sag and created a gap between the exterior and plastic bin.

Has anyone else experienced this defect? Is this a known issue/concern?

Any thought on how to repair to avoid issue recurring?

I don't believe I would have exceeded a 300 lb limit as the only things kept in that part of the rear storage are plastic leveling pads and two 5 gal buckets of misc stuff. and an extra fire extinguisher.

They are usually attached with square drive screws into the wood or metal framing. The threads have likely pulled out. Even if you didn't have heavy items in there as things bounce around driving down the road that can put a lot of force on the screws.

I'd double up on the number of screws and add a fender washer (large diameter) to spread the load. And perhaps make sure things in the bin are not able to bounce around but packed in snug to otherwise fairly secure.
