Main awnings

Hmm.... Nothing in my basement but the central vac, AC outlet and cable jack. The placement of the cable jack wasn't thought out very well imo. It should be higher up the wall to keep it out the way of moving objects.
Since I mentioned the central vac... To all you who have just gotten your rig you may want to check to see if the bag is attached. Ours wasn't and I had a minor mess to clean up when I first pulled the cover off. Putting the cover on upside down makes it easier to pull off too.... that's been my experience anyway.Edited by: TravelinAnderson
 
Steve I have the second switch in the basement and thanks for the heads up on the vacuum bag.
 
Steve, maybe the second switch was added later in production.I picked up my RL 3 weeks ago and I have itin the basement. I'll bet "late bloomers" like Bryan and Dave have one in there too.

Also, thanks for the info on Central Vac. I'm going out to check now.

Lastly, I received a water filter cartridge in my Redwood doc bag. I assumed that it was a spare, but now I'm wonderingif one is actually installed - or is that the one for the dealer to install? Anyone get a spare in their document bag?
 
That should have been installed by the dealer. When i got mine the rig was winterized and i had to install the filter.
 
My water filter cartridge wasn't installed but I think that's standard for the industry.
My cartridge is still waiting to be installed because the in-line camco filter I have is still in good shape.
 
This could be a serious issue. I bought a weatherproof outside plug cover from Home Depot and adapted it so that the switch fits inside. The switch is protected from accidentally being engaged if the load shifts, but I still have the use of the switch.
 
Well I looked this evening, after they brought our Baby over and parked it next to us, that we have two switches in the basement, must be one for each awing. And I agree, don't know why them mounted them so low. If there we within a couple of inches of the top of that bulkhead they would have been fine.
 
Between the location of the auxiliary awning switch and the way the gray water holding tanks are plumbed in the 36FL I'm beginning to think there isn't a lot of "what if" thinking going on in the engineering department.
 
But they're all suppose to be experienced Engineers with lots of service with Carriage and other MFRs. Maybe like was mentioned earlier, they need to spend a week in a rig and get to experience all the things we go through on a routine basis, maybe then they we understand why we can get a little upset at some of the Stupid things they do.

I would love to be a test pilot for Redwood. (Hello Redwood you have a volunteer! Just let me go with Andy to shows and you have a couple of love to be camping RV'rs and the answer man.) I know I could come up with solutions with the factories help and make people happy. We have to make this company superior to the rest of the industry with there inovations and cost conscience designs. Lets be proactive advocates for our life style. We all Agree on why we joined the Redwood family.
 
I agree Jay I volunteered to be a product tester while I was at the factory but I did not get a reply. You are right that we need to help redwood become the best company it can be.
 
I talked to B. Emmons today and during our conversation I mentioned the problem people were having with the awning switch and cable jacks mounted in the basement. He was genuinely concerned about the awning being accidently extended by cargo shifting in the basement while towing. He suggested a lock out of some sort or a keyed switch... I suggested that they simply install the switch and cable jacks at the top of the wall instead of at the bottom where the cargo is. He's going to take this problem and solution to the engineers.
We'll see what happens.
 
Thanx for info. We have always had awnings in casings, so took your lead and ordered ours to be in casings. Are awnings cloth, canvas, vinyl, or something else. Didn't like awnings on Cameo after having canvas on Airstream? Just curious.

Chris the awning fabric is vinyl on all of the awnings. I opted to not have the awning installed and ordered a Carefree Spirit awning with acrylic fabric and built in lighting and tie down straps and i also added an alumigaurd to protect the fabric while traveling and in the winter months.
