Should we compile a list of forum categories to submit to the admins?
I'd like to see them add sections for Modifications, Rallies, New Member, and Camping.
If you're interested in this idea please submit your suggestions and when we get a consensus on categories we can submit them to the admins.
Thanks

I think it would be good, BUT I think we need to do a better job of policing ourselves and keepdiscussions in line with the original post. Many if not all the current posts start with one question or suggestion and end up with totally unrelated subjects. I know without active Admins/Moderators it's up to us to try and keep things on track. Yes we will get side tracked, but before we really get off the subject we should stop and switch it to a new Thread. Just my thoughts.

Steve yes it would be a good idea and Michelle you are right we all do need to stay on topic.

I can't argue with you on that. We do tend to stray from original thread's topic, however every forum I've been on has the same problem so I doubt it will ever go away completely. My favorite is when someone asks a question and someone replies with some form of " I don't know". Why do they even bother?
Anyway, I don't think there are enough categories to address the threads we'd like to start and that may contribute to the problem of straying from the original post.

I'd like to see a more technical "How To..." category, with topicslike Design Issues,Options, Various Diagrams, Brakes, Wiring, Satellite Install, Thermostats, Generators, Washer & Dryer, Tires, Trucks, etc. These are all topics that have "taken over" other topics because there is really no logical place to discuss them.

Some of us have gone to efforts to provide step-by-step information on topics so that others won't have to reinvent the wheel, but currently,it's difficult toresearch any of these subjects because they are embedded "somewhere" and people can't find them. Many times, it's easier just to start a new thread than to find the info that you read "somewhere". Then, those of us who have the answer have to start a detailed reply over again.

It would also be useful to include a picture or two of your solution with your post, rather than having to setup an outside source for your photos and point to it.Edited by: 5th_Time

So that's a "Technical" and "Tow Vehicles" category?
Redwood can put up a disclaimer to protect them from any liability.

I'm buying a new dually tomorrow, but it was my fault. I added so much weight to my trailer with options on the Redwood and my truck that it was too close for comfort.

I added over 500 lbs to my truck bed and over between 1000 and 1500 lbs to the trailer with accessories. Without all of that a SRW truck would pull it without going over weight.

For our forum we need to have a Find Button. Just type in the problem and all related info will come up and you can pick through them. (Tow vehicles) (hitches) (Lighting) (sewer systems) (slideout problems) etc.

That's why we need several new categories. The forum search is not very effective. Plus, having new categories/topics in logical placeswould make it easier for not just us, but the search engine as well.

Steve has the right idea. For now, we'll need to make things easier on ourselves. Once Redwood gets more involved,a better forum software package and at least a part-time admin to kill SPAMer's user-accountsand help us improve the forum wouldbe a good investment.

There is a definite need for a more sophisticated forum format. There are only about a dozen of us that use the forum regularly now so you can imagine how convoluted it's going to get when there are a 100 or more.
Let's visit other forums and take what's best about theirs and try to get those features and topics incorporated into this forum.
I think Redwood will be willing to work with us. It's in their best interest.

The other option is to put our own web form up and have Redwood link to it. We would need to find some techsavvyguyamongus and then find a way to host a free web site (sponsor maybe) with good "form" software (donation?) this way we could provide our own "administrator(s)" and policeourselves. This would be an option if Redwooddoesn'twant to step up to the place, just a thought
