Yeah, this applies to my 2016 MH as well as many others as we have seen from the multitude of "Replace Radio" threads in this Forum.

My Garmin GPS, which I have never liked due to it's weird routing algorithms, has had a hard time lately even synching with the satellites. So after my Thanksgiving trip south last weekend where it consistently showed a 5 MPH error from Google Maps and my speedometer, I was on the hunt for a replacement GPS with a Black Friday deal.

I had tried one of the Chinese sub-$100 "RV" GPS units on the jungle site a few months ago - they are just small proprietary Android tablets running a custom GPS APP - with a really crappy user interface. Returned it.

The cheapest RV Garmin GPS was $450 (on "sale") - way more than a comparable car or truck GPS, just because it said RV (and had RV routing and RV waypoints, which was severely lacking in my last Garmin RV GPS). I was not willing to bet that much that Garmin had made it any better, so I was looking for an alternative.

I came across a category of devices I did not even know existed: An Android Auto/Apple Car Play stand-alone "Head Unit". Basically a 7" to 11" tablet with the capability of connecting to your phone via Android Auto or Carplay that has multiple mounting capabilities like a stand-alone GPS. They have built-in speakers, or you can BT to your dash radio, or run an audio cable to the "Audio In" jack, or even use the old FM tuner option.

Those that are familiar with AA and CP know that not all APPS are compatible with this technology. Sygic GPS is with the Add-On license, Copilot GPS is not, I don't know about the RV Life APP. So these head units have the capability of mirroring your phone's screen - and it is much better that what you get with screen mirroring to the Axerra/Jensen radios. So now you can have Copilot or Sygic on the display.

The unit I picked up was also a 4K dash cam with included 2K rear view camera. With DVR, with an included 64 Gb SDcard. The front dash cam lens is movable so even if your mount does not have the unit parallel with the dash you can just point the lens in the right direction. The extension cable is only 26' so the rear camera may work for a small Class C or Class B. You may be able to add a 4-connector mini-phono extension cord to extend it farther.

I get nothing from this recommendation and this is not an affiliate link.

I picked up the 9" model for $84 with the $20 coupon. I haven't mounted it yet, but since it has a USB C power input I have been playing with it in my living room and I'm pretty impressed. I don't know yet which GPS APP I'll run to it, but I have the flexibility to try all of them. This is the one I got, there are other similar units available, but I can't attest to their capabilities or suitability to the task.

This may be a solution for others wanting these capabilities.

Saved it in my Amazon list.
Thanks.
I just yesterday bought an android 14 10.5" tablet at Wal-Mart for $56.
We keep one in the living room with MyRadar running.
If it doesn't work for me I'll return and your unit.

You do not mention whether you have an Android or Apple phone.
I can only speak for Apple & it's CarPlay.
I run Waze almost exclusively in the motorhome and my cars during to traffic, police, and road hazards.
That said, Apple Maps, Google maps, and RV Life run well, but RV Life, using Here maps has led me astray a few times. I turn it on occasionally to check foe RV specific routing, but Waze is my top usage.
FWIW, I have an Android based 10" double din in dash unit that swivels. It is less than $300 and works very well.

Watching this, because I still have stock Pioneer radio.

The one block I may have is that I am use to have all of the controls for the Pioneer radio on a steering wheel remote. It is wireless to an adaptor on back of the Pioneer.

I bought my Garmin RV model at less than half price as it was refurbished. Works great, and I do use as a backup to Waze. I like the device you have provided because I can have a bigger screen for my Waze which is everything to me. Not sure if it will connect to Android Auto wireless from my phone or need a cord. Maybe if it is wireless to my phone and my phone is bluetooth to my Pioneer my Audio may not be affected through factory radio?

I got some homework. The only real value of my Garmin RV is for back up so sometimes it provides an alternate direction. But it seems to never beat Waze, but it is better to see where you are what cities are next, next rest area etc. I have Rove Dash cam that is always recording but we never go back to look at it.

The AA is wireless to the head unit through WIFI. The audio to your Pioneer will be BT from the head unit (if desired) or to the Pioneer from your phone if you want to use a music player on your phone.

Can't beat the price for all those options! Definitely fills a void missed by other MUCH more expensive units.

I've been burned by Garmin countless times. The brother-in-law has a fancy RV version. Last summer we compared mapping. Even with the extra cash he invested in the RV version, it still had massive brain farts. And the insult was cell signal would "conveniently" vanish for Google maps just about the same time Garmin decided to go goofy. And downloading offline maps before every leg is such a pain. Hello Starlink mobile...

This is really good. I have always wanted this never felt comfortable getting a larger din unit to fit in my stock frame. I had been kind of waiting for my Pioneer to go bad and buy the new replacement Pioneer but it is like $600 just for the unit. Worse it would still be the same size 6" or so.

With that said when I reviewed the details of your listing I decided to go with this one. https://www.amazon.com/XBAY-Receivers-Navigation-SuperLink-Bluetooth/dp/B0DGXHW2FV/

My reason is around the 10.26 screen, and the newer technology around SuperLink. Not sure I will need the front and rear cams but I will have to see how they work.

The deal above is only good today plus you have to be a prime member. I am not a prime member, but my daughter is.

Right now I got three things of clutter.

To the left RVi Command Center Tablet
To the right next to steering wheel I have my Samsung Phone
To the right on dashboard above the Pioneer radio I have the Garmin RV890

I suspect this unit will only fit where my Garmin is today, so it may have to be moved out? I assume I will no longer need my phone.

From you feedback, it appears that my existing steering wheel remote can continue to work as it does today so when this new device connects with BT, I can control volume etc.

Impressive features. Looking for an installation manual to see how they tap into the reverse lights for backup camera. Wondering if you can use the existing backup camera cable you have already.

I assume this is the correct link?

Thanks FWIW

It appears the $30 discount on the item I chose...

https://www.amazon.com/XBAY-Receive...0DGXHW2FV/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

is only applicable if you join prime. Their listing says it is exclusive for Prime members but when my daughter tried to order the same it was $128 for her and it DID NOT have the $30 Coupon to clip.

So I had to join Prime just to get the receiver for $98. On the flip side since I now have prime I will get the unit on Wednesday.

I have no intention of keeping Prime or even using whatever other stuff it does. I will cancel the last week of the year to avoid a subscription charge.

A side benefit is that once I do cancel Prime, they may re-start harassing me for signing up for another free 30 days

Well, that's strange. It's not a Prime coupon. I just added it to a non-Prime account and the total came to $106.31 with tax.

That is odd, because the unit I purchased is only available to Prime Customers?

That is really great deal for you because that unit is just released and regular $198.

My daughter with Prime would have had to pay $128

For me it showed price of $128, but as you can see I could not even it in my cart as it is (was) exclusive.

I called Amazon to confirm that if joined prime I would get the $30 coupon and it did.

For $98 this is a no brainer, I could not find anything better without buying a full radio. If it works out like I hope, I may be able to sell my Rove Dash cam and my Garmin RV890 and make a profit, have less clutter

Well, now I'll have to go back and check to see if that other "non-Prime" account is actually included on my main Prime account as a family member.

EDIT: Well I checked. I thought that account was non-Prime but it was in my Shared Household. So it had Prime benefits as well.

So if I understand correctly, you signed up for a year of Prime (which you don’t really want or intend to keep) for about $139 in order to get a $30 coupon (and I suppose a member only price and a day or two earlier delivery). Sounds like something I do for stuff I don’t even need and end up not even using! 😁😁😁

Correct, but I think Prime is $180 per year. The receiver I got was $98 with 2 day shipping. I shop victoriously for fun and in a way like a hobby. I have zero intent of paying a single installment. I just need to cancel by 1-1-25.

The way I see Amazon defines the rules of the game, I am just a Playa, and I am playing to win... I ain't playing :coolsmiley:

Amazon has 200 million Americans paying them $15/mo to do exactly what you say and if you ask each one they will swear they are all getting a good deal while Bezo banks damn near a billion dollars a day.

My mistake! When you said you were going to cancel before the end of the year I mistakenly presumed you were referring to the end of your one year subscription. I should have realized you were too sly to do that. Your plan sounds good. Just remember, big tech knows all and sees all! Kidding 😎
