Hi everyone, I’m trying to help my father in law with his 2016 Ace 29.3
No power inside with the switch in the use position and the 2 house batteries showing 11.7 and 4.4volts
It’s my understanding when the generator is running, it provides AC power to the inventor, and yes everything inside does work but I believe it should be providing DC POWER and charging the batteries which it’s not. If it matters, I also do not hear the investors fan running under the bed with the generator running. Looking for some direction please

2 dead house batteries, how old are they, what type of batteries
Not disagreeing or at least 1 May still hold a charge. Assuming they may be original however my thoughts would be with the generator running, I should see the voltage higher at tge batteries as the inventor trying to charge the batteries, correct? Voltage doesn’t change at all

I believe when they are dead they won’t take a charge. When generator is on ,it sends 120v to inverter or converter which then kick power to 12v system to run RV. If they SP doesn’t do the same there should be a breaker panel, flip breakers off and back on even if they don’t like they are tripped. Look in battery compartment for the breakers , push the button and the yellow lever should flip out then push back in to reset, same thing push even if they aren’t tripped. Maybe even try the store button followed by use button. Check the fuses in the panel, pull and reinsert

When the house batteries are dead (as his certainly are) there is no power to operate the USE/STORE latching relay with the switch to move it to USE. The generator supplies power to the CONVERTER (not inverter) to supply DC loads and charge the house batteries ONLY IF the latching relay is in USE.

Charge the house batteries (or jump them) to operate the USE/STORE battery disconnect relay and then MAYBE the converter can charge them if they are not too far gone.

Attached is a picture of my battery compartment. You

rs should be similar, as it too is a Thor MC plant 750 coach. In the center of the picture is a small black triangle with a large electrical cable, the end wrapped with silver duct tape. This is the the 50 amp circuit breaker protecting the charge/discharge cable from the power center containing the converter to the house batteries. There is no press to test button, but if it trips there is a yellow flag showing. To reset just push the flag back into its slot.

As Ted stated, there is also the latching relay powered by the house batteries in the charging circuit from the converter. If the house batteries' voltage is below 12 volts, you cannot move the position of the latching. relay ( use/store or master power).

The green circle was button I was talking about, in your picture the yellow circles those should be hooked to something or this was just to show a idea

There are no batteries in the coach when that picture was taken, so nothing to attache the cable from the latching relay and 50 amp circuit to.. The second picture shows the same cable attached to the red buss bar.

All the above has been done

Did I miss what type of battery( flood acid ,they have caps that can be removed to add water- AGM, maintenance free or lithium ) and there maybe is a sticker on top or side of battery showing month/ year maybe they are to old and dead
