I need some photo inspiration for where and how you haul items too big for the storage bins, like spare tires, sitting chairs, etc. Reply with photos of how YOU do it, if you wouldn't mind. Thanks.

Ahh, yeah, chairs may fit in YOUR 27 footer, but the bin in my 22 ft Thor is too small for chairs AND the other boxes I need in there, so I need to carry the chairs on the outside. I bought a wire rack that goes on the stairs to the roof and used a ratchet strap to keep them from bouncing around, but I'm hoping to see what others have done.

You don't carry a spare? Do you trust AAA's rescue service THAT much?

So is your question only for photos on how you carry chairs and/or a spare for a 22 footer?

I will pass on the photo because I have a 29VE, but I carry two chairs that fold up and place in the bag and put in a storage bin. Many storage bins to choose from. I carry a spare tire not a full spare wheel. I keep the spare tire under the bed inside. I have had to have the roadside service use my spare tire ( not wheel) twice. Buying a new tire while who knows where at what known cost is my worry. But it is a hassle to make certain that roadside understand that I have only have a spare tire not wheel, they always get it wrong because they don't listen or assume I don;t know what I am talking about. It takes a couple of time with the service not being bale to put my tire on the flats' wheel. In future, I will call my own service get it done, and get reimbursement. If they don't pay for the reimbursement I will cancel roadside. A tire for your 22 may be easier to find?

The storage compartments in our ACE are big enough for four folding chairs.

Here's how I carry a spare tire: Roadmaster Tire Carrier Copy

What RV do you have??? Always post leading with that so we can help better. Assume after seeing response to Ace that you have a 22' long rig.
Anyways on my Class B Tellaro 20L:
1) re-install bike rack with sikaflex 252. Thor didn't use adhesive... remove bike trays, added box for outside connection stuff. Mine was all scratched up underneath. Evidently Thor tells workers to ignore manuals.
No straps used- box mounted with SS hardware and locknuts.
I also removed my sewer tube carrier from side and added a Valterra tube to the bike rack below my utility box. Can use super duty zip ties or bolt with metal straps. Added mixing water valve where tube was on driver's side.
2) Spare wheel from eBay, tire from tire store, and Landed Gear Spare carrier w/ plate holder. I also carry a 12V jack/compressor inside under my wardrobe. Also lug wrench and spare belts for engine, all in a nice utility bag. There are also swing-away hitch-mount spare carriers.

3) CargoMax2 box and swingaway carrier on hitch w/ tail lights. Holds our chairs and tables- had to mount 3" off center (new holes in bottom to clear the box, when swung out and opened- plugged original holes)
(folding 20" bike will fit inside too!)
Note Van Windows Direct venting window w/ screen on LR door.
Also added 'kickstand' when box is swung out to carry weight.

Also added 2nd solar panel, and many more mods- PM me for more info if you like... 'only' 80 + mods so far. Went all the way to Utah from Vermont with this setup w/o problems.

With AAA's regional divisions I don't trust them at all. I have an RV Roadside Assistance plan and failing that I have the capability to repair, inflate, or remove and carry in my toad any of my tires to a shop for replacement.

I'm with Ace- I found AAA too expensive for the return- I carry tools and spare. I can invest that $200+ I was spending and make more that way.
Plus I can grow mushrooms faster that it takes to get them to show up.
All these 'insurance' plans do is fatten the wallets of the ceos of those companies- kinda like the $10k extended warranty that the RV dealer tried to sell me... not 'just no'...

We dropped good sam roadside.
Too expensive.
State farm covers us.
Cash covers us.
My spare and tools covers tow truck company if their crew forgets a tool.
My spare and tools covers me if I feel the need to change my tire.

One is none.

So based on the pictures is your 20 footer effectively 25 feet? If OP has 22 footer he might be 27 effective feet? So less is more :whistling:

So far in 6 years, I have never been anywhere I could not park our 30' RV, even at high end Hotels downtown Dallas. They always have somewhere for buses and they never charge. I have all my chairs and gear 24/7 and nothing on the back except for toad if I have it. Most times I don't.

All that adds 3' from bumper, so I am at 24'. No problem parking.
Tellaro is 21'-1" long
If I had a toad, it would have all that in it. No need for a toad with a class B.

For us in a 15' Axis 25.2 I don't bother with a spare and the chairs (3) are kept in the shower whilst we travel, a lot of other stuff goes in the Toad, with bikes on its roof. This year we'll be touring France again for all of August, we carry quite a lot.

I have a similar rig as you, 2021 Freedom Elite 22HE on the ford E-350 chassis. I bolted a couple of 2" (sorry, no pictures and all you'd see now would be the tire cover) angle iron bars across the frame in the back behind axle and mounted a ford truck spare tire, winch up style, carrier. My past motorhomes had bumper mounted spares and they always got in the way while towing. I had to use a longer hitch mount which cuts down on towing capacity. The jack, lug wrench, winch winder and blocks are in the storage compartment.

In every motorhome I've owned in the past 30 years I've had a tire go down at one time or another. Twice I had to call for service, every other time I was on my way in under an hour.1Ist time was for a dry rotted spare (my bad) and a 2 night wait in a parking lot for the truck shop to get a tire. The second time, the spare was good but the fluid had leaked out of the jack. 4 hours wait for a guy to show up with a jack. I'd rather have everything with me and be ready when something happens. I carry belts and hoses as well, guess it's the old boy scout in me.

I keep 4 canvas folding chairs and a small folding table in the "trunk" under the bed. It's really a large compartment.

I tow my garage (Ford Maverick). Bikes, table, 2 chairs and a lounge chair.

No spare. In the last 25 years after the flat prone tent trailer, I’ve only had 1 flat on the current MH (fixed free by Les Schwab even though I have never bought tires from them). No flats on two trailers and 1st MH.

We have two folding chairs that fit under the jackknife sofa. We don’t carry an extra spare but on a prior motorhome we had a mount on the back bumper

E-350 class C. Bag chairs store in bunk over cab. I'm kicking myself for not keeping an old tire from my tire change last year. I'm considering Duck's cable winch setup for an unmounted tire.

I removed the Winegard satellite dish from the roof of my 24.1 Axis and used the mounting plates to mount a spare tire on the roof. I've had 2 flat tires in 5 years (50k miles) and both times I wish I had the tire with me.

Thanks for sharing the pics. My spare is mounted on a large, heavy wheel, so I wouldn't be able to mount it on the roof like that. Gives me ideas for other things, seeing how you did it, though. Thanks,.
