Need new tires

On our last trip we had one of the Goodride tires that our 2019 3901 WB came with blow out for no apparent reason. The TPMS didn't show low air pressure or high heat it just blew out. I am going to replace the china bomb tires and the best options I can find are the Goodyear 114's or the Sailum 637's. Please give me your opinion as to which you prefer. I generally like American made products but I have heard very good things about the Sailum. I would appreciate all of your input. Thanks in advance.

I think you mean the GY 614 as the 114s are a 17.5" not 16" which I assume the GoodRides are. I got a real kick out of those when I first saw them. Folk just looked quick and and said, "Oh look GoodYear tires" didn't read the whole name.

Mine are 17.5" and I think I need 114's. Yes when I bought my Redwood I looked at the tires too quickly apparently because I thought they said Goodyears. I see you are using the Sailuns so I assume they are working well for you.

I’m on my second set of Sailuns and not a single issue. Replaced the first set end of last year because they timed out. 5 years is max for me. I don’t drive slow and these tires have been awesome. Mine are on a 2018 39MB built in 2017. Big thumbs up here.

That sounds good because they are quite a bit less expensive than the Goodyears. Thank you for your opinion

I was running the GY 114 and was planning on changing at 5 years, only made 4 1/2 on the way to the 2019 Rally when one exploded. Installed the Sailuns at the Rally and have 18K miles on them so far with no issues.

Yes sir, 215 17.5. First time I got them from Simple Tire and had Discount Tire install. This last time I found them at a local to me truck tire shop because my Discount Tire quit mounting the 17.5’s because they did not have the machine to do it. They did say they are getting one but would not do it this time.

If the GoodRides are like the tires that came on our unit, you will see the difference just by standing on the unmounted tires. It’s amazing how thin the side walls of the factory tires are. I watched the original factory tires like a hawk and at the first crack at the side wall to the tread I got rid of them.

Goodyear 114 or the Sailun 637 . I have had the Sailun 637 on 3 differnt trailer and not one failer. I know Keystone had them OEM on the Montana trailers and there was a bad batch they had . There is a factory Recall and they are doing the right thing and replacing them for free.

I keep hearing the same thing on the Sailun 637’s so I ordered a set today. Thank you for your input.

I have ran Goodyear G614 and Sailun S637 16” tires on my last 5th Wheel for many miles with no problems from either brand.
Our Redwood came with Goodyear G614 16” from the factory when we bought it new.
Due to us being fulltime and traveling a lot of miles year round, I had the MoRyde IS installed, along with Disc Brakes and I installed upgraded to 17.5 Goodyear G6114 tires. Due to some alignment issues that caused excessive tire wear which MoRyde corrected I replaced the Goodyears with Sailun S637 17.5 tires, no problems so far.
Both the Goodyear G6114 and the Sailun S637 are great tires, the Saulun’s do cost less than the Goodyear’s.
Note, my Sailun S637 17.5 tires are made in Vietnam.

There are several good tires out there. I have had Hurcules for 4 yrs and it's a LT trailer tire J rated not an ST. 25000 miles and also no problems.....Pick what you think is best...

Thank everyone for their input and I respect very opinion I received. I ordered the 637 Sailuns and had them installed this morning. I feel good about my decision, even the guy at the tire store had good things to say about the Sailuns. It is certainly helpful having all of y’all for support. Thanks again!

I went to Sailun 637. Had to go up to 247/70 17.5, because of the shortage last summer. Added benefit is I run a lower pressure according to manufacturer specifications. They are wearing very well and the ride is exceptional.

Switched to Sailuns

A couple of weeks ago, we had a blow out with the Westlakes, just like you said. TPMS showed no problem, just blew out. Tore the fender flare up and bent the skirt slightly not too bad, could have been worse. We bought Sailuns and are hoping to have the same good luck with them that we have heard from others.

Installed the Sailuns at the 2019 Rally. Aug 2021 Front Curb Side lost it's tread with 15k miles on it. Did no damage and didn't even know it happen until the next day. Ordered a replacement thru Walmart and was re-embursed by Sailun for the cost.
Now have 19K and no further issues.

I swapped my Goodyear's a couple of years ago to Sailun, but due do to covid only have 2000 miles. Had about 30,000 miles on the Goodyea'rs, no issues, but had to go. Hopefully this year hope to travel south again!

Tntniemi - I will be replacing my Sailuns next year ( time, they’ve got over 27k totally troublefree miles but it will be 6 years). I’ve been thinking of going to the 245/70.

What tire pressure are you running and what rim width ?
