This is my wife and my first travel trailer and I can't believe how nice these things are! We absolutely love it and can't wait to get out there with it. This forum has been awesome and has answered so many questions I've had. Thanks to all!

Welcome to the forum. Remember that the only stupid question is the one you don’t ask. We’ve all been there at some point. Congratulations!

:flowers: Hello and welcome! :flowers:

Enjoy your new camper. If you have any questions just ask :thumb:

Congrates. Enjoy the unit, replace the tires within the first 5000km. They use cheap under rated, off-shore tires that tend to wear and blow.

Obtain the highest rated tire possible if you have "C" rating tires try to go up to at least an "E or F" rating.

If you look at the weight of the RV and the rating of the tire you will find you are over-loaded or very close to it.

Welcome aboard Silva.

For a trailer that size, I would never recommend anybody going to an F rated tire.
It you air it up to the recommended pressure it would be so hard and stiff it would pound the rig to pieces.
You have to remember, the tires are part of the suspension also, and are meant to absorb some of the road shock.

True but F rated tires do not have to be inflated to the Max pressure. The sidewall are what absorbs the "bounce" and yet the tire is strong enough on the side wall to handle the weight.

This comes from a tire expert and a long time RV mechanic.

All I know is I wore out the original set (4 tires) in under 5000km had 2 flats which were replaced with similar rating (C) and wore that set out in 8000km (not the cheap off-shore brand) increased to an E rating and have not had tire issues in about 8000km.

Thats all I know first hand experience.

I agree with what you say, but with a trailer that has a GVWR of only 7550#, an F tire would really be over kill. E would be a great plenty and you would still be able to get by not running max pressure.

Agree 100%

We have an earlier version of your rig and just adore it. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of yours as we have ours. Think it is the perfect couples trailer!
Regarding tires, we put around 20K on our OEM tires over 4 years including trips out west and up and down the east coast with no worries.
Reading all the tire posts on here did greatly increase our anxiety level for sure and am happy for our new set of tires, though it's more peace of mind. Can't really feel any difference in towing...

Hello! I too just bought a 2019 sunset trail 253RB...My first mod was to put heat in the bathroom! I do not know why they did not. Easy job though. Just ran an additional duct. Also installed a higher velocity fan in the bathroom, installed and wired a fan in the roof vent in the bedroom ( what a difference!) Replaced furnace control board in the furnace, new control board for the gas to electric fridge. All boards are Dometic and go out soon as I found out. Up graded propane tanks to 30lb with gages, Water heater was too hot so installed an adjustable temp one. Overall It is a nice trailer!
