New 36RE

Hello everyone
Our 36RL was ordered for Feb delivery and we just found out it is in NOW. We're very excited to get started and will start our "great adventure" in mid-Feb or early March.
We've worked our way up from a tent to a pop-up, then eventually to a small TT that we could pull with a Honda Ridgeline. The new truck and 5er is going to be a big jump in size for us.
Living in VA now, so headed south first (still cold here in February). We'll see our kids in Jacksonville, NC, Lincoln NE and Denver CO before starting out across this big country. BTW, they all think we're crazy to go at this full time.
We'll be on the open road once the obligatory visits are finished. We hope to spend our first winter in the southwest (maybe AZ). Can anyone suggest a good location or RV park suitable for the winter in that area? It seems like reservations for winter stays must be made far in advance.
Our tow vehicle arrives next week (Ford 350 TD, KC, DRW and grandpas tailgate), our 5er will be prepped the first week of Feb and we'll move into it for a week or two (bug check) before hitting the road.
Hope to run into many of you as we travel around. I will certainly post any issues or questions we have with the forum since it looks like a great place to get first hand information. I've bee reading the posts for about two months now and everyone seems very willing to help each other and share experiences.
Hope you all have a Happy New Year and safe travels.

George and Kay

Congrats on your new adventure and glad to see you did your homework and got a TV up to the task of pulling these RWs around the Country.

Congratulations! We love our 36RL! I hope all goes well at the PDI, and now you will have a little time to work out any kinks with the Dealer before you go.

Congrats we also love our RL and sure you will love yours and will be great to meet everyone as we travel :) :) :D

Hi Michelle. LOL remember the Vega well. Mine ultimately got a V8 and became a Drag Racing car. Don't know where it is now or if it became beer cans

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on choosing a Redwood.

We didn't have any problems making reservations in Arizona for this winter, making a reservation in mid October for Mesa in February.

Congrats on your new home! We also have an RL (love the floor plan). We are staying in Tucson (lots to do here) for the winter, 70 today!

Thanks everyone.
Both Kay and I put in our last day of work today. We are now officially "off the clock" for good.
Looking at both Phoenix and Tucson. Both areas have a lot to see for someone who's never been to either area. We've watched the weather in both cities for over week now, and compared to the cold around here, we think either area would be fine for us.
Any suggestions on specific facilities? We may not be able to mention them by name in this forum, but thought I'd ask anyway.
We're thinking about splitting the winter between the two areas and seeing more of Arizona. We both have an interest in geology and archeology so we're pretty easily entertained (rocks and people).
Our leisure time will be spent under the awning or visiting with new friends we make along the way. NOT shoveling snow or raking leaves.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking forward to this sooooo much!

We researched the Phoenix area, Tucson and Yuma. For this year we are trying Mesa Spirit in Mesa, but check out a few RV parks in the Phoenix area & Tucson.

I stayed at Mesa Spirit 2 time each was for around 7 days. They were friendly people and they do use" Passport America".

We use to winter in AZ. quite often before our daughter moved to TX. We would stay in the Casa Grande area which is between Phoenix and Tucson. It had good eating places, a mall, and everything else a person needed without the large city. The two cities were close enough that if a person wanted to go to either one, it was an easy drive.
