Not a RW but this was quite an adventure with the boy.
Char found this (long story) and it was sitting in the woods for over 25 years. We spent some time with the bearings, tires and a light bar and headed off on a 275 mile journey to get it back home including the Cross Sound Ferry.
Super fun adventure with the boy and now to get busy on the restoration on this 1968.
Was even able to get the original paperwork and actually got it registered to come home legal.

You guys are glutens for punishment, looks like a lot of work. I'm sure it will be like new when you're finished.

Looks like an awesome job to do with your boy....

I would have been terrified of the tires .... Did you take 4 spares? :D

Joe,
1 spare but we put 4 almost new tires on it. we were running highway speeds so no way was I trying it with the old tires.
I have to say that Airstreams with the IS tow amazing even for an old one. I had left a small bundle of wire ties on the rear bumper and they were still there when we got to the ferry!

Must be some tongue weight. It even makes the Denali sag... ha ha

Lots of tongue weight. Loaded about half way up with crap but I had to take it all. Almost gutted and shell will be off next week. I used to think Airstreams were built well but the aluminum structure makes our RW's look incredible!!!

Holy Airstream Batman! When you remodel, you remodel. Are you drawing schematics as you go to send to Airstream on how to build one better.

Found the bones under it all today. Off to sandblast next week.

Sure hope you're good at Jigsaw Puzzles because it sure looks like it will be a puzzle to put back together.

I did the same with a 1937 Chevy Coupe when I was younger. A little jealous of your project, love the updates and progress photos. Enjoy the project!
