Hi all, I’m a new rv owner, I purchased a 2017 thor axis 24.1. I replaced the house batteries, they were 3 years old and not maintained, the lights and appliances stopped working. The new house batteries are not working. I’m not sure they’re wired correctly. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. (My first post, hopefully my picture is attached)

The battery on right should only have one cable, negative, to the left negative. Looks like ground off the left battery. What does that extra cable on the right negative go to? I’ll bet it’s supposed to be on a positive.

Ell, that's a nice picture, but since none of the cables have any labeling on them, and Thor makes all the cables look the same, it's not of much use.

You should have:

Two jumper cables: + to + and - to -
One cable from the combined negatives to the chassis frame
All other cables go to one of the combined positives. They will trace to:

A 100 amp DC breaker for starting the generator, and
A 50 or 70 amp DC breaker for the House DC buss.

So visually you look to be OK but we can't see where your cables go.

So if neither of these breakers have been tripped, and you can here the battery disconnect latching relay work when you use the USE/STORE/Master Power switch, you may have blown the Reverse Polarity fuses in the Power Center. They are two large fuses (40 amp) that are out of line with the rest of the DC power distribution fuses.

The left terminal on the right battery is a positive terminal.

That’s the info you’re looking for! Also, check the right battery negative connection. When I zoom in it looks like the connection may not be tight. Hardly any stud showing. Or the lugs are interfering with each other and not tightened down.

It is a little late for this advice but you should always use your phone to take pictures before you take things apart. Then you can go back a look at the photo to help with the installation. You should also put labels on cables that it is not evident what they are for.

Just looking at your photo I would guess that a cable has fallen down and you did not reconnect it. There should be a cable to the emergency start on the firewall, a cable to the inverter, and another cable to the converter. The converter is the device that produces 12 VDC to run you lights, etc, and charge your batteries. That may be the cable that is missing. If that cable is not connected all the 12 VDC fuses in your power distributin center will not be connected to the battery.

Did you get this resolved? And what did you find? The info may be helpful to others.
