Hi everybody,

Wanted to take a minute and introduce.

Just put a deposit down on a 2015 Sunset Trail Super Lite 240BI. Huge step up, as we had an antique 1973 14' had used to see if the kids actually enjoyed camping. Much to my wallets dismay...they loved it. With the Canadian dollar tanking, and figuring we had 5 good years of family camping, we took the plunge.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the value in the extended warranty (SAL Protection Plan), and Diamond Kote paint treatment.

Hope to hear from any other owners with this new model. Looking forward to the advice and learning more as we go.

Thanks

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. I don't have any extended warranty, so I can't speak on the value of one. Again, welcome!

Thanks for the welcomes.

Here are a couple of pictures of the unit, keeping warm under a blanket of snow!

Hey welcome. Are buy buying from Layzee Acers? We bought ours there last January and went through the same questions regarding warranty and protection. After researching and talking to people we decided to skip both.

The paint protection because it only takes an hour to protect the trailer each year just like a car. As for the warranty my closest warranty shop was over an hour drive from me. The warranty didn't guarantee me fast service it could still take weeks to get my trailer back in peak season.

Have a fun time camping!

New Camper

Welcome!
We have the 270BH and love it.

We did go with the extend plan through Good Sam. I was given a discount and it seemed like a good price to me. Have not used it and hopefully never have to. I do not know about the paint protection never heard of it.

Ultimately if you feel better with it and it was a good price do what you feel. If you are iffy and the price seems high, skip it.

Good to know, thanks. I am purchasing from LayZee- what tipped you off? lol Great point about the service time as I never considered it. How did you find your overall experience with them?

Even our salesman mentioned that a third party could provide the warranty. I am definitely iffy, as its over $2k for warranty and $30/ft for paint protection, which must be reapplied in 5 yrs (+ $$) to have any chance to honour the products 10yr warranty.

The lot picture looked familiar. We had a fantastic experience with Josh, no complaints at all. I've sent two other people to him who had similarly good experiences. When you do your PDI they book them kind of tight on time so if your going to do a big inspection let them know you want to do that and they will let you into the trailer first and then pull it over to the PDI area for your walk through.

I live way too far to ever bring it back to them for issues so I called the warranty company and they said I could go to a dealer in Hamilton, still 45 minutes away. When I called they confirmed that, but they were the ones who told me you go to the end of the line like everyone else. Their average wait time May- September was two weeks minimum.
