New member Hi all. Me and my wife have just purchased our first ever new 5th wheel (2013 cfl28cs). We have only ever owned or bought older TT. So what I'd like to ask all you experienced new owners/buyers is. Is there any tips or opinions you'd be able to give us on what we should be looking for and at when we do our walk through next Friday when we pick up the unit?

We are very happy and excited with our purchase. We have looked at hundreds of units and this one we bought is the first one we found with a floor plan that worked for us and was in our price range.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome.
There is a PDI checklist that others share on here I wish I had for mine.
I would have given it to the dealer BEFORE I went back for the PDI so they could prepare..saving me time and effort.

Last May we purchased our 1st TT and have learned everything from the people in this forum.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have been doing some more research online and found a great PDI checklist on rvlifestyle to follow that I will use next Friday.
We are exited for this unit but at the sametime we are a little nervous with a new unit from what we have read about some of the issues others have after taking delivery. But I think if we follow this PDI list we should be fine.

Take a video camera and tape EVERYTHING. I don't know about the checklist but run all slides in and out several times. Try everything and videotape it. It goes without saying don't sign anything until you are happy with the PDI, "Oh we'll fix that later" doesn't cut it. Everything works and you are happy with it before the signature goes on the line.

I don't know who you are buying from but once you sign the papers it's yours and any repairs are warranty work and at the back of the line with a lot of dealers. If something doesn't work, they fix it before not after. If you have to come back another day so they can get it ready, so what. They'll move a lot faster when they are waiting on money(your signature).

IMHO all dealers are great until you sign. After you sign is when you find out what kind of a dealer you have.

May you enjoy your new trailer, it's going to be a fun ride. Kick back and enjoy it.

Lloyd, Clif, and Gary have seemed to have taken care of you pretty good, so I will just welcome you to the forum and congradulate you on the purchase of your new camper. :thumb:

-turn water pump on with city water off and turn on shower top see if pressure is ok. and also turn on kit sink .
- scan tv for stations to make sure antenna works.
-bring a cd and a dvd to check radio/dvd player
-bring a 6-7 ft piece of 2x2 or piece of pipe and put against side of tires to see if the tires at least line up evenly ..should show if axles are close to square.

Welcome to the forum and to being a Crossroads owner. Seems like you're getting your answers here on the forum. That's what it's here for.

Welcome!

The PDI checklists in the previous posts are great for the walkthrough. Great unit, the kitchen island with the sink is really neat.

Always check this site for answers to questions you have..If you don't find the answer, start a new forum thread.

This site is a virtual gold mine of knowledge..thanks to the great folks here!

Welcome

Thank to you all for the warm welcome and suggestions. I will update you all on Friday when I go do the walk through.

Well haven't even done the walk through and problem one found. Got a call today from the dealer telling me that they found out that the roof was peeling back and they needed to order a new membrane. It will take 2 weeks for the parts to show up.

My question is.
Is this a problem that may cause problems in the future?
Or has it already caused problems like leaking? Since this a new 2013 model that has been sitting on there lot since last July.

I still will be doing the walk through on Friday. I'm guessing I should pay special attention to that area?

If the roof was peeling back and they just found it I would question how much damage has been done already.

Just me but I believe I would walk away from that one and get another. At the very least inform them you want to see the top before the new roof is put on to check for any signs of water damage.

I for one would walk away from that unit. The dealer may be competent, but with all those roof fixtures that will have to be removed/reinstalled, there is the possibility that a leak may develope if not properly caulked (and caulked with the correct materials).
However, if you are confident they can do the job correctly, I'd be looking for a reduction in the price IMHO?

Congrats on the up coming new adventure this summer. I think I would think real hard about taking this unit. Extended warranty. But just thinking out loud RUN!
