HELLO EVERYONE!!!!! - Well as of yesterday our purchase of a 2014 Redwood 38RE was semi-finalized. We put our money on the table, received the manuals and bill of sale but are still a week out for delivery of our unit and probably 3 plus weeks before we get a lien free title. Yes, we bought our unit used but not used from a private party. The unit was originally purchased in Hersey, PA at the RV show and towed to the previous owners home and never moved.

This is our first excursion into the "Big Rig" venue and we are looking forward to begin the shake down trips with this unit. We are going to be keeping it fairly local to campgrounds relatively close to our home base. We will not be ready for a long trip until we get the niggles figured out.

Although we are ready to get going we are finding that the original dealer did not provide all of the manuals that are needed for the basic "rookie style" operation of the coach. A lot to be learned but I have high hopes we will get there.

We have worked with the original owners for over four months toward this purchase. Many, many issues to work out with the purchase of a coach that has been registered and with a bank lien on it so it took every bit of the four months to get all of the issues worked through. (and everyone is happy and still remained friends at the end of the process) And finally here we are.......

Welcome! We were somewhat disappointed that the documentation for our 36RL was no where as good as that of our previous 5th Wheel. Some of the systems have their own manual, others so not, as I am sure you noted. Thankfully, we've had folks on this forum help with questions. Our dealer is helpful also.

I have spent a good amount of time reading this forum and I agree, "What a great resource!!!" As our coach has been purchased as a used unit and we do not have the luxury of Manufacturers Warranty although we will have a 7 year extended warranty. I am hoping Crossroads/Redwood will be welcoming to a new Redwood owner when I need to ask questions??? That is yet to be seen. Whatever the case may be this forum seems to be better than most manufacturers support that I am use to so we will probably be asking a lot of stupid questions in the beginning.

We are looking for a dealer that we are ready to establish a long term relationship with. So far what I have found is that you are damn fortunate to get a return call from any of them. They seem to think that it is Shoe-In and they do not have to work to gain a customer. I think we will find the "ONE" at some point but it is obvious we will need to study that one as much if not more so than the coach we would settled on...... So goes RVing so far. Thank the Big Man upstairs for this forum!!!!

Bob and Kathy,

welcome to our growing family! Many folks on this forum will be happy to help you work through all the obstacles, as many have already lived through them. I hope you enjoy your coach and I hope you're able to meet up with us at the next rally.

Happy Trails

Welcome! I was in your spot a year ago and you will find the forum most informative and responsive.

Congratulations on purchasing a Redwood and welcome to the forum. I wouldn't be too worried regarding minimal manuals, etc as what Redwood supplies really isn't much help.

You will find more information on this and the other Redwood forum.

Congratulations and what a beautiful rare find! You caught the transition in body style and paint schemes and you have the new body style with the prior paint scheme - (which I love)! Very nice!

Rhilton284,

Welcome to the Redwood community, congratulations on your new coach!!

As previously stated, many of the manuals are in the Files section of the other Redwood forum, have you registered for it? If not, go to http://www.redwoodrvowners.com and do so. You can also fine most of the manuals online. There should be a sticker inside your cabinet just inside the entry door listing every component/appliance [both model # and serial #], this will be a huge help in finding the manuals for your coach/components.

And in addition you have these forums...you'll find the folks here very accommodating, there is virtually no question unanswered and there is a wealth of knowledge freely shared...a true treasure!!!

This forum is most helpful and Redwood has been great to answer questions, but as you said the warranty is void since you are not the original owner. Our unit was five month old when we bought it and we purchased an extended warranty through the RV dealer we purchased our Redwood through. We are very glad we did because on our first trip the equalizer broke and our extended warranty covered it! You can get an extended warranty through Good Sam if you don't purchase one like we did through All State. The replacement of the equalizer was 600.00 State Farm policy has a 50.00 deductible and Good SAMs is 200.00. Just FYI. :)

Congratulations on the new coach! You'll love it and the great people in the forum, yet some are just a might crazier than others! :)

Welcome, the manuals are no big lost this forum priceless

welcome! I'm new and I had a lot of responses to my question. These members are very friendly and ready to help! happy travelling!

Thanks for all of the Welcomes.... We have finally reached the point where the RW was delivered to our storage lot but Thanks to the State of PA bureaucracy we still do not have a title or plates so there she sits.... It will take 10 days to receive the lien free title then another ten days to get it transferred and receive the title in our name.... Don't you just love the government??? I don't know if we will actually be able to get it out until next spring but at least we have it.

I am contemplating having an annual done on it while we are waiting to take it out on her maiden voyage.

Also time to start getting a Non Commercial Class A.......
