Hi,
My name is Don Hirst and I am a new RV owner that recently purchased a 2016 Thor Ace 30.1 Motor Home.
My wife and I have taken a couple of short trips and are planning additional.
I would appreciate any winterization procedures you may have.

Soon to be new Axis owner

I am picking up our first RV this Friday from lazy days RV in Tampa. It is a 2015 axis 24.1 with 4500 miles on it. Any suggestions as to what questions we should ask or problems we should look for during delivery and walk through?

Many thanks,

Soon-to-be and very excited Axis owner

Deckwalker -- I collaborated with several contributors on the forum developing an owners manual & checklists. It has a comprehensive pre- delivery inspection checklist you would find beneficial. Send an email to me at bevedfelker@live.com & I'll forward the manual.

I must be in the minority on winterizing the motor home. I just blow out all the lines and put antifreeze in the traps. So far I haven't had a problem and keep the anti freeze out of our lines.

First welcome.

Next - 2015 with 4500 miles, is this a used motorhome?

If so, check everything because you will not have a Thor warranty. This is a quote from the Thor warranty:

"Warrantor's Limited Warranty is not transferable and only applies to the first retail owner of the motorhome."

If you search the forum for AXIS/Vegas PDI you will find a wealth of info on what to look for on that specific model.

DeckWalker,

Three areas I have experience with since purchasing my Vegas this past May:

1. Safety Recall 15V-530 Advisory RC000103 Heater/AC for the 2016 Vegas Model.
2. Crawl under the unit and have the mechanic verify that the rubber transmission cable is not resting on the exhaust system (see thread 350 Can't shift out of drive this forum).
2. Check the brand on the house batteries. I am having a Warranty problem with Harris Batteries and the WFCO WF-8900 Converter/charger used on my 2016 Vegas on the E350 Chassis.

As a general rule of thumb that should be sufficient for winterizing. I have seen a couple of cases, however, where that method was used and the water pump and strainer froze and burst. I have found that neither blowing out the line through the city water connection nor using an antifreeze hand pump through the city water connection provides protection for the water pump or strainer.
