Hello All,
Our family purchased a new 2014 3612 Elevation Toy Hauler in May after years of using a slide-in truck camper, to put it mildly we have been less than impressed with the rig or Crossroads. I now think we were spoiled by the camper as it was flawless and in a three day boondocking trip (father's day weekend) we had the following with our Elevation:
1. When filling the water tank when the gauge finally says "full" approximately 25 gallons of water runs out of the overflow hose and the gauge goes back to reading 2/3 full. Our dealer has no answer for this.
2. When moving the main slide out (Galley & living room slides operate on one button) the main slide "grabbed" the floor and tore it. The slides moved in/out with no unusual noise and the alignments looked "true". The unit was level and the floor was repaired under warranty with no explanation of the issue.
3. We boon-docked at 6,000' elevation and the high temps around 92, the generator would run for almost 2 hours and then start running rough and shut-down. You could restart it and repeat all weekend long. Dealer tested in their yard for 5 hours and say it is fine...
4. You ask why run the Gen for so long? We have two AC units and the master bedroom and bathroom were nice and cool but the main area and gargage would barely cool down so we closed off the garage and many of the vents in the bedroom to redirect the cool air with minimal success and had to run the Gen for a long time in an attempt to cool off the main area. The AC seems inadequate for this rig.
5. The refrigerator/freezer barely worked. The freezer was about the temp you would expect the fridge to be and the fridge was not cool enough to keep bread from becoming moldy. Still waiting on the fix for this... Most of our food spoiled.
6. One of the lights above the kitchen island did not work. A loose wire was repaired by our dealer under warranty.
7. Upon returning to our dealer and going over the above issues and leaving our trailer a day later our dealer called and said that the glass in our sliding (patio door type) door between the main area and the garage had shattered. It was fine when we dropped the trailer, dealer entered a claim with Crossroads who rejected it as they "don't" cover glass. I called CR and spoke with customer service, this was a terrible experience as the individual (who was reluctant to give a name but was male) didn't care, when I asked where this policy was shown stating no glass coverage he said the dealer should give it to me and that is was standard practice. When I went over all of the other issues in an attempt if nothing else to gain a "sympathetic" ear this person could care less.
Our overall impression/experience has been terrible, three days of use and the rest of the time in the repair shop and a customer service individual who in my experience either knows nothing about customer service or is so "buried" in compliants he no longer cares.
I'm still not ready to give up on this unit yet or Crossroads and sure could use help hearing from owners who have had better luck than we have.
Please help the "unhappy" campers in AZ. Thanks and have a good day.
