As a ex Californian many of my friends there are concerned about the direction of government control over the RV industry. One law fits all mentality is on display there and no matter what your beliefs on "man made global warming" might be it does make me wonder how far CARB and like organizations will attempt to install a thermostat on the sun and regulate the morning breeze. Science or government overreach?

Lots of opinions on what exactly is going on in the not so golden state but clearly worth keeping informed.

This article makes it clear that the new rules are no so clear after all.

I brought this topic up to illustrate how the bureaucrats have made gas powered engines the enemies of the state. They have already banned the sale of new gas powered lawn equipment. Actually they simply ruled all engines must produce Zero emissions as of 2024. It's obvious they have targeted the transportation and RV market diesel and or gasoline as well. Hope there's enough vocal folks there to give them pause. :ermm:

Look.... I'm all for not polluting our waterways to protect us and marine life. I don't want to breath a lot of crappy air. And we shouldn't throw trash out the window as we drive down the road.

But one thing about RV travel is you get to learn a lot of stuff you didn't know. I have learned a few things that contradict the whole "we have to abolish gas and oil or the earth will implode" thing.

First..... when we were in Alaska and headed over to hike up to see Exit Glacier. As you drive into the park, we started seeing signs every couple mile. The first sign was something like 1830..... another sign said.... 1855....... another sign said 1870...... and so on until we got to the Visitors Center. While we were doing a Ranger led hike, he told us those signs marked where the Glacier's leading edge was that year.

So that Glacier and all the others were receding long before the first gas powered vehicle was built and certainly before mass produced vehicles were burning has and diesel.

Then another example of how the climate is the climate was what we learned when we were in the Badlands...... In the 1880's before Teddy Roosevelt decided to run for president, he was out in the Badlands to hunt Bison. He was a great outdoorsman and fell in love with the landscape in that part of the country, including Yellowstone. Roosevelt decided he wanted to have a ranch and live there. So he built a ranch and brought in livestock.

The summer of 1886 was hot and dry. There were wildfires and creeks, streams and rivers were drying up. Then when winter hit there were sub-zero temps and blizzards. After all of that crazy weather, 2/3 of his cattle died. He ultimately gave up ranching because he couldn't beat the weather and the rest is history.

Again.... all this extreme weather happened before the evil of oil and gas.

My point is this...... the belief is that there have five major ice ages since the earth began. We are in..... and reaching the end of the last ice ice, which started over 2 million years ago.

What happens as an ice age ends? It gets warmer and ice melts.

Can humans impact the environment? Absolutely.... we can pollute the water, land and air.

Can humans impact the climate enough to stop an ice age from ending and keep the planet from warming? Sorry..... that dog don't hunt.

We can certainly start the next ice age if we set off a bunch of nukes that lead to a nuclear winter. Or if Yellowstone decided to finally erupt or another larger meteor will hit the earth and the next ice age will begin again.

But if the ding-dongs elected by other ding-dongs all think that banning dinosaur juice and driving EV's will save the planet and stop the natural progression of global warming as the current ice age ends, then we all have bigger problems coming down the road.

All these radical states are going to do is hurt themselves and the businesses that invested in those states... and ultimately the people who live there. RV dealerships and shops will slowly close up..... tax revenue will dry up..... the travel industry will suffer.... and smart businesses and people will pack up and move out those states before their next on the list to be impacted.

Hats off to our Judge! Amazing that common sense has given way to popular group thoughts. Your thoughts mirror mine to a tee and I have long thought to myself we could not change the earths climate if we wanted to.
In a crazy time in our history some argue up is down back is forward and the earth might be flat after all it's comforting to hear a precious few write common sense words.

Than you Judge!

PS: Flat planet might be cool for RVing though.

Judge speaks the truth! But there's more to it than what he describes... which are political (money) motivated agendas.

Nobody can deny that humans will eventually exhaust the supply of fossil based fuels. It may be thousands of years, but it WILL happen. It's a finite resource.

One could also argue that the sun won't shine forever either... but we're talking "end times" with no sun. Big difference.

To me an alternative, and essentially infinite source of energy is right overhead. The problem is that individuals have direct access to solar generated energy and storage. However, few people have oil refineries in their backyard. Wall Street doesn't like that.

All the arguments about electric RVs are absolutely true... now. What's ignored is the SAME arguments applied when transitioning from horse drawn vehicles to using gasoline engines. But the problems were solved.

Vast sums of TAX money were invested in millions of miles of asphalt highways. These were absolutely necessary for accelerating adoption of gasoline powered cars and trucks. The argument could be made that if spending all that money was a great idea, why wasn't it done privately?

It doesn't take much critical thinking to figure out why electric vehicle (cars) adoption hasn't taken off. There's no real charging infrastructure AND no truly affordable electric cars. Combine that with a negative mindset against public funding of charging infrastructure and there's your proverbial roadblock. Of course there's also that incentive of the petroleum lobbyists.

Are electric RVs and heavy trucks viable? Absolutely NOT. At least not with existing technology. Was making a cell phone call viable in 1970? All it takes is breaking out of a controlled mindset

The Judge has spoken and I concur with his ruling.

I second your concurrence. To think we can stop the planet from doing what the planet does is nonsense. I saw a video a couple of weeks ago about how all the planets in our solar system are warming by about the degree as the earth. Climate science is a very lucrative religion that makes billions of dollars. The changes this cult forces on society will only get worse as the following generations mature and take on larger leadership positions.
