Hi, we just purchased a new Sunset Trail 262BH and had our first trip. Love the trailer, unfortunately on our first trip a severe storm blew in fast and being newbies, we didnt get our awning in quickly enough and the water weight bent one arm on the awning. Awning still works, just a slightly bent arm. Any ideas on repairs? From Sarnia ON area

You can lower one side of the awning so the rain runs off without putting the awning in. We all learn from our mistakes. Welcome to the forum from NC.

What brand awning do you have. Most manufactures sell replacement parts. And this happens a lot more than you think. If you leave for the day and the weather man says good weather - roll it in !! Been there done that.

Etrailer would be a good source for parts.

I always try to get 10 degrees lower on one end. Also buy a Camco awning anchor kit at Walmart for about $17. And Camco awning deflapper, also at Walmart about $15. The deflapper helps keep the awning stretched for better runoff. And the anchor will protect from wind gusts. $30 is cheap insurance to protect from an expensive awning repair.

Thanks all for the info. After walking in the park we did notice that most experienced campers did have one end lower.
Live and learn i guess!

Replacement of Awning arm

Hello CDC. We purchased a new 262BH about 5 months ago. Second trip, I sideswiped the back awing arm. I tried to bent it back, but was not happy with operation. Took it into service, they replaced the entire rear mechanism for what I thought was a very reasonable price. I think the parts were under $200 and labor was only 1 hour. An expensive mistake, but a nice surprise after what parts cost:dance: for parts for an Airsream we use to have.

We have a 262bh also and we love it (aside from a mystery leak were working on)...
I learned to leave one side lower, but also watch your head when you do.....I guess I meant that I'm trying to learn this, as it's happened more than once lol
