New Thor 28Z owner

Hello, everyone, we just purchased a 2014 Thor Four Winds 28Z motor home. We previously had an older Coachmen 24 ft. motor home. As a new 28Z owner, I have a LOT of questions that someone may be able to answer.
First, has ANYONE done, or had done, a neat and clean CB radio installation in the Ford E-450 dash. There is a compartment at the top of the dash which, in my unit, is just a cubbyhole and a coin holder. It looks like an ideal place to neatly put a CB radio. And, what about the CB antenna. I saw the posts on this, but wonder if just mounting one on the side, and going through the interior to the dash-mounted CB radio would not be the neatest way to go, using a two-wire antenna, which doesn't require a ground plane.
Anyone?

I am a 2011 Four Winds 28Z owner. Have not put a CB into my rig though. I had some thought about using a portable one, but have not yet bought one. I only see using a CB while on the road as a method of information, but sifting through the chaff to get road conditions, etc. may not be worth the hassle.

CB radio value

Yeah, listening to all of the chatter is a bother, but, sometimes it can save your neck. We were driving very late at night, out in the country, on a very dark night, and I heard two truckers talking about a car overturned in the middle of the highway, without any lights. I slowed down a LOT, and, when I saw the trucks pulled over at the side of the road, and got closer, only then could I see the upside-down car, sideways in the middle of the road. If I had not heard the truckers talking, and continued driving at speed, I may not have been able to avoid hitting the car!
Another time, coming back into Houston going east on I-10, I heard truckers saying not to continue on I-10, but to exit on the 610 loop, as I-10 was flooded beyond that point. When I got to the 610 exit, there were NO barriers, yet, on I-10, and, if I had not heard the truckers talking, I would have continued on into the flooded portion, with no way to get out!
So, SOMETIMES, it can really save your bacon to get a "heads-up" on the CB radio.
Only ONE of these kinds of things can make it really worth while to have a CB radio in your rig.
