We are in the process of finalizing the purchase of our new 2019 Sunset Trail 331BH and are new to camper ownership. We are really looking forward to starting our adventure and becoming part of the community and realize we have a lot to learn.

Welcome to the forums. Not trying to be a bummer but that TT weighs 7388 lbs. What is the max tow weight of your truck? I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 and mine is 9500 lbs. 3 or 4 people in the truck and gear in the TT and your close to max. I would be very careful, your gonna work that motor really hard and it is not gonna be easy to stop. A good weight distribution system will help a lot but it won't help you stop much.

Rated at 9600, originally was planning to purchase something a bit smaller and lighter, but really liked this unit. I was expecting power and braking will be on the low side. In the short term planning shorter distance weekend trips, a heavier tow vehicle is under consideration prior to any long haul trips. First experience with a TT, but experienced hauling heavy equipment, most concerned about getting used to the size and higher CG.

It's all good as long as you have an understanding of what to expect. I always worry about stopping because some dummy doesn't have a clue that you can't stop on a dime. Good luck and enjoy! We love our Sunset Trail, there sweet TT's.

We pulled our 32BH for two years with a 1/2 ton and the other posters are correct regarding pushing the limits of your truck. Your trailer basically replaced the 32 BH in the lineup so we’re about the same in weight. We love our trailer but that setup you have is the best layout I’m my opinion.

I get it that not everyone can pull the trigger on a new trailer and truck so while your doing the short hauls keep a close eye on dialing in your Weight distributing Hitch and invest in a tongue scale to weigh your tongue and keep it well within the limits of your TV. FWIW We took a trip out west last year and that did it for us, hence we have the F350 now but the short local trips we did prior weren’t “white knuckling” rides.

Great looking rig, congratulations and welcome.

Just my 2 cents worth, but you might consider some air assist springs as your rear suspension look a little low, or maybe tighten up the WD hitch you have a tad.

Of course it could be my eyes or an optical illusion.

This is not a criticism, just and observation, but resolving it might make a heck of a difference in your driving pleasure.

Enjoy your new toy.

Welcome from another OH owner (Portage county). I have a rear BH model (older) that I towed with a 1/2 T initially. The dry weight was 6400 and with 5-6 kids in it I struggled up some steep grades if I couldn't get a good run up. Stopping was not too bad with the right brake controller set up though. After one season I went to a 3/4 T, but needing 3 rows of seats, I have the Yukon XL.

A good WDH really helps, and upgrading the brakes to 'tow' models has also helped shorten stopping distances. The 3/4 T also made a nice difference in towing power.
