New to Crossroads

Barring any undisclosed problems with it when we get there for the PDI, we will be picking up a new to us Cruiser 30QB fifth wheel Saturday. This will be our first Crossroads trailer, but our fourth overall. We started with a small Coachmen, then moved to a Flagstaff TT, then to a Blue Ridge 40' fiver, and just sold the Blue Ridge a few weeks ago to go back to something a little smaller and a lot cheaper that will fit our style a little better. We loved the Blue Ridge, but it was just too much for what we like todo. The Cruiser is a one owner and looks to have been taken good care of. Hope it is a good one.

Bob, it looks like we've got pretty much identical campers. I picked it up today in McMinnville, TN. A 3 hour drive each way in the snow. Whoever thought it would snow on the 2nd day of March in Tennessee? Anyway, this thing pulls like a dream. I'm very pleased so far. Only thing I could find wrong was a soft spot in the paneling in the lower right corner of the back storage compartment, about 2 ft wide by 8" high. The floor is solid, the outer wall is solid, the roof is ingood shape and the caulking is good. Even looked the rear window over to make sure the gasket on it was in good shape, and it was. The only thing I can figure is the previous owners laid something wet in there. I wanted to go on with it, so the dealer gave me a piece of matching paneling and a crash course in how to repair it along with some free parts since they didn't catch it before I got there. Otherwise, it just needs my junk loaded in it.

Good luck with the Cruiser. That's the hard part, loading the new camper, finding a new place for all the stuff, that you had fitting sooo well in the old camper.

Glad to hear that it tows well.
If the damage is the back wall of the pass through storage under the lower back bunk, the tail light may have been the culprit for your water damage. Water from the roof running down the back and into the tail light and then down the wires into the wall. I upgraded mine with an LED conversion kit and then sealed the hole for the wires as well as sealed the new lens cover with caulk. The LED conversion kit allows you to keep the same light base but provides a new lens made for the LED light panel.

I really like your tail light conversion, Bob. I believe I'll do that myself.

I got worried about the damage, so I took it back to the dealer. I'd recommend them to anybody. While the camper was still hanging on the back of my truck, they had the rear window out and the damaged paneling off.The windowgasket wasbad and it was evident that the water was coming from around the window.Luckily, the damage is very minor and they are repairing it all free of charge, along with some free service for my trouble of having to take it back. The owner was very apologetic and offered to do whatever made me happy, whether it was fixing the camper or "tearing the deal up". Great folks, it's good to see people who still do business the right way.

That said, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and have them check the tail lights as well and make sure they are sealed good. Thank you for the tip on the LED conversion and the advice on the water coming in around the light. This forum is shaping up to be just as good or better than the Forest River Forum I've been familiar with.
