New trailer, new member

Hi everyone, another new member here.
After researching, looking, and waiting a year and a half for the right deal on the right trailer, I just traded in my pup for a new Z-1 252TD! And the first thing I said when I saw it for the first time for my walk around was "damn, it's a lot bigger in person than in the pics"...and it certainly is a lot bigger than my pup was! No matter, I hooked it up and pulled it the 400 miles back home and the family (who were all sad to see the pup go) couldn't be more excited about planning our next camping trip (which is going to be in our side yard next to the oak tree). Below are a couple of before and after pics...

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the new rig. I think many of us had our first camp in the driveway. We just had to try it out!
Have not seen that front deck before what is the intended use? Is there a ramp for loading? What are the weight limitations?

Al - which front deck do you mean - the Z-1? It is standard on the CR 218TD and 252TD toy haulers, good for 1500#. The pup is a Viking Legend 2275sc, the deck on that is 60x80 with a 2700# carrying cap. The deck rails on both campers are also the loading ramps.

I agree Tim. I wonder how it tows with the toys aboard. They are quoting 1500lb capacity on that deck.

What to you think that does to tongue weight? Only makes sense it would be heavy.

What about loaded down with a couple ATVs or UTV? There is a lot of trailer out in front of those axles.

Well, it can only hold 1500lbs. and I'm sure the frame is made to handle this. I don't think it's much different then if it was a regular 37' TT.

I would imagine proper loading and tie down would be important.

I wonder what happens to the load distribution. She might be kind of light on the hitch without that front deck being loaded, or she might be kind of heavy on the hitch with it loaded.
1500# is a lot of weight to be playing around with. Especially if you don't have a heavy enough tv.

It would be interesting if the op has ever weighed it out to see how that weight changes things.

I haven't had a chance to weigh it or load the atvs on it yet, just got it home on Saturday. The kitchen sticker says it is 5856 dry, and the specs say dry hitch weight is 694. The fresh water is 54 gal and the tank is right in front of the axles. There is one 26 gal grey tank right behind the axles. At the very rear of the trailer there is a 2nd 26 gal grey tank and a 26 gal black tank. At the back of the trailer is the bathroom and 2 full size bunks. The kitchen and dinette are in the middle over the axles, and there is a walk around queen bed in the nose. If the 690 dry hitch weight in their specs is correct, I would guess that the hitch weight would go up to somewhere around 1000 with my 1300 lbs of atvs loaded. It handled fine dry for the 400 mile trip home from the dealer, the bigger issue was the length...the deck puts the axles back another 10 feet from the tv, so you have to pay extra attention when turning corners. I'll attempt to weigh it both dry and loaded when I get a chance and compare the handling and post the results.
