Overhead cabinet storage weight?

Hi,

Can someone point me to the specifications that provide the maximum storage weight for overhead cabinets. Specifically the overheads in the living area of a 2011 36RL would be great but I take a general consensus if spec is not available.

Thank you in advance.

All I can say is that we have a lot of junk stored in ours and they haven't fallen down yet.

We also had them loaded up!
Doubt that RW ever load rated them.
I figured if I could lift it that high they would probably carry it just fine.
Unless you're smuggling bowling balls or have tractor weights in them to balance your load I'd bet they will hold whatever you plan to put in them.

We also have a lot of weight in some of ours, and so far, they are intact. Now the shelves in the front closet, they are another story.

They hold a LOT , the big question is if you don't have some way to keep the doors closed on rough roads do you want it falling out?

We've had ours loaded and traveled over roads rough enough that our pantry door fell off and one of the doors for the front closet split, and never had the upper cabinet doors open.

Standard kitchen fare -- dishes, cups, saucers, pots, pans -- won't typically come close to overloading overhead cabinets. The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, in cooperation with the American National Standards Institute, has set voluntary weight-limit standards for cabinets. The stamp of approval is awarded to cabinets when they show no sign of visible failure at 600 pounds.

Some manufacturers voluntarily set their own standards and guarantees for cabinet weight capacity at not exceeding 500 pounds. Custom builders don't typically list cabinet ratings, but the integrity of almost any custom cabinet usually exceeds standards.

I personally limit the weight for 150 pounds per upper cabinet even though we do not carry that amount. My rationale is my 2019 RW3951WB-R has a tendency for screws to sheer off (had two more screws sheer of traveling last week). I just do not want to take a chance with the overhead cabinets sheering off during travel; chances are the screws are the standard furniture head screws used throughout the RV.
