Overhead Storage Failure

The front overhead storage on my 2019 34J started to come loose on a recent trip. The section nearest to the windshield literally dropped down, leaving only the front mounted screws holding it in. This over head storage "box" seems to have come down in the past (prior owner most likely) as the screws that came out were mismatched and different. To get home without it falling down completely, I wedged a 2x6 wooden board from the top of the dash to the base of the box with tension which worked.

I want to remove and re-install this storage "box" with a bit more reinforcement by way of larger/heavier duty screws etc. Has anyone had any experience with this? Hard to find details on the forum as I'm not entirely certain what the overhead storage "box" is formally called.

I've attached an image of the section of the coach that's come loose below. Thanks for the help.

Thanks! Super helpful, I went down the rabbit hole today with this and think I have a plan. Will post pics.

The link is simply
'How to repair an rv overhead cabinet.'
Type that into the top line on your web browser.

Yes,
Please start a new thread with pics and step by step instruction.
If you get stuck, PLENTY of us have had to do very similar work and can probably unstick you.

Had this issue on my Thor Windsport 29m

I had the same thing happen to my 29m. There is a thread on this site which shows the recall and a good fix. Not sure how to link (I’m a newbie) but if you search “overhead cabinet recall” you will find it.

Site Team EDIT:

Link added to referenced thread
