So yesterday I turned off the water heater to save propane. Regular heater working fine. This morning I noticed the heater wasn't coming on. Turned gas water heater back on and no ignition. Cook stove propane works fine.

What do I do next?

Assuming you are plugged in to electric--------Have you check for any breakers being tripped? Is the electric going to your furnace and water heater?

Check out our Document section for troubleshooting the heater. It may give you a clue of what the problem is.

are both your gas tanks turned on? Have you checked the propane supply? You may be out or very low.

Thanks for the input! There was still gas as the stove worked fine. First thing I did after that was to change the tanks, which didn't affect the issue. No breakers were flipped. I'm on 30 amp shoreline power.

I shut down the breakers and turned back on (never thought I'd be rebooting a trailer!). After trying the heat several times it finally came on.

The water heater wasn't working in elect or gas even after the heat came back. I kept trying the gas switch over the course of the day and it finally came on.

What you are describing are classic symptoms of a low propane supply issue. It does not take much gas to burn the stove but after several attempts and bleeding the air the furnace/water heater lit. The furnace and water heater will both go into lock out mode after attempting to light and failing and you turning off the power is how you reset them. This is just my guess as to what you experienced and without being there and testing we can only guess.

One other thing -- leave both propane tanks on and the changeover valve will automatically switch to the other tank. Just need to check more frequently in cold weather.

Glad you got it fixed and thanks for letting us know.
