Does anyone know how to remove the slide-out pantry on the smaller Thor's? The top slide - which unfortunately is the one broken - has the standard slide release found on drawers. However, I can't find anything on the bottom slides. The only way I can get enough room to replace the upper slide is to pull the pantry all the way out, but I don't want to break anything further in the process.

Pantry in question:

Top slide - bearing strips have fallen out, and it no longer stays on track:

Bottom slides - I can't see any sort of release on them to allow the pantry to pull out completely:

I'm going to guess that you have to remove that small panel below the pantry. Looks like there are screws holding it in place. Then you may be able to reach in to release the drawer slide "levers". The bottom slides appear to be installed the opposite of normal and opposite of top slides. Therefore the levers are towards the back. Maybe!

I tried removing that access panel and there isn't any access to the slides from their either. That cubby has a "ceiling" that is screwed in from the top side.

Looking at a couple other similar posts, it looks like I may need to remove the floor of the bottom shelf to access the top of the slides. Look like they are screwed into the pantry, so wondering if there aren't releases at all...

I have the same type of pantry in my ACE. At one point I looked at removing it to install better catches. I believe the releases for the bottom are on the inside (center facing side) of the rail and they should be the same as drawer catches (one up, one down). BUT, even if released there is not enough room to extract the pantry far enough to get it off the rails. So I gave up and engineered a Velcro strap to keep it closed while traveling.

Yeah, I'm half tempted to forget it. We'll see how adventurous I get. The top slide being broken really has very little effect on it, other than the top can tip forward a bit when fully extended. It's not enough to where anything can fall, just annoys me because I know it's broken! :ROFLMAO:

Thankfully the bottom catches are strong enough - with a piece of velcro at the top - that it doesn't come open while traveling.

Yeah, that "broken" part would bug the crap out of me as well. Maybe, if you can get the bottom rails unlatched, you can push the moving part back into the cavity to get the pantry out?

I did remove the "pantry" from our ACE 30.1 - as part of a major remodel. I don't recall the exact details but I do recall it was not easy or evident how to do it. I remember I had to disassemble much of the pantry to even get to the bottom slides. I do have the parts out in my workshop. I can go look to see if it'll jog my memory (tomorrow - we're not home today).

That may help him, but realize your pantry is half as tall as his and yours goes almost down to floor level.

We were able to get it out by removing the front facia, the "floor" of the bottom shelf, and then removing enough screws from the frame that we were able to lift the entire pantry assembly off the rails. Now onto the hardware store to find some new parts.

Good job! Where there's a will, there's a way.

good job finding the solution!

I'm late to the discussion, sorry I'm of no help to you
For others or for future reference though...mine is pretty much just like that. It came loose a bunch of years ago, thanks to the great roads in the great state of Louisiana. I didn't get past figuring out that major deconstruction would have to happen.

I managed to "jury-rig" a workable repair in the Home Depot parking lot somewhere between LA and teh Grand Canyon. I think it might have been in Albuquerque. Basically, I attached a red oak board as a wide shim. No way for the pantry to move left and right...and it gave the added bonus of more friction against sliding out resisting unwanted movement while on the road. It looks like garbage with the extra light form the camera flash because it was the wrong species of wood and stained with my kids' crayon, but it's no so bad with normal lighting
...& hey, remember, this was an emergency repair in a home depot parking lot

I had intended to come back later and replace it with some maple and attempt to stain it to match the maple cabinets, but never did.

Almost 8 years later and my pantry is still working great with my temporary repair. I don't think anyone has ever really noticed it.
