Parallel Batterys

2010 30sk, I want to run 2- 12v batt in parallel. this should increase my run time for dry camping this week,,,,any thoughts on this step up,,,,,not to familiar with new camper and electronics in it,,,,dont want to ruin anything,,,,this set up will only be a week long too,,jeff

I think you want to hook them up in series. Hook the POS to the POS on the battery and The NEG to the NEG then hook the trailer back up to the battery. This maintains 12volts with higer amperage. In parallel you would have 24volts, not what the camper wants.

You have the terminoligy backwards Chris. + to + and - to - is a parallel connection. In a series connection you would have 24v by connecting the + to the - between the 2 batteries.



What the OP wants to do is correct.

Jeff, I installed two golf cart 6volt batteries wired in "series" to give me 12volts with a lot more capacity, these batteries are huge compared to Group 24, 12-volt batteries -- I haven't run out of juice since then!! I also use an 81-watt solar panel to keep the batteries charged when camping.

Yep, two 6V's is the way to go. We had that installed when we bought the trailer and they really work great!

What you are proposing shouldnt hurt anything at all as you are still running 12 volt at the devices. But it would be a better set up to run two 6 volt, good quality deap cycle RVbatterys for a much longer lasting charge. The 6 volt in series will give you 12 volt and much longer running time.

Iether way you get better running time.

Be aware that if you run 2 6 volt batteries and one fails, you will not be a happy camper. I run dual 6 volts for the advantages they offer. I also carry a 12v deep cycle as a backup.
