Parking Brake Emergency

Two days ago, while driving my 2018 Thor Venetian 40a, I was driving about 70 mph when the parking brake locked up my rear brakes! Needless to say I navigated to a safe place with smoke billowing out of the Drivers side rear wheel well. That was followed by 8 hours waiting for a tow truck and not being sure what happened. Today I got a call from the shop foreman at the repair facility asking for clarification of what happened. When I described the events that occurred he said that he suspected a failure of the parking brake diaphragm. He said he's seen this several times on units with a Freightliner chassis from the 2017 time frame (give or take a few years).

Has this happened to any of you or are you familiar with anyone this has happened to? Needless to say, this was a scary situation and has my wife ready to quit RVing.

Why would he ask you instead of doing an inspection?
If it was Initial contact then he was just making small talk.

This does not seem like someone who has seen this
multiple times
doing anything except a nice professional calming an owner on the initial call.

Let us know what really happened once it's repaired.

If he did a full inspection, couldn't find the problem, then called you to
Buy a vowel
Get a new shop.
