Hello all I have a light question that I'm not understanding.

Over my Island in my TT I have two pendant lights that hang down. My daughter's playing around and broke the metal bar attaching dependent to the base but the light itself was undamaged. I was having a hard time finding what I needed as a replacement so I ordered a couple new pendant lights and two 12 volt light bulbs. The existing lights are little round LED panels not bulbs the problem is I'm not getting any power to the light bulb in either of the fixtures. I checked the box it is a 12 volt bulb and if I touch the wires to the original LED chip in the new socket that the bulb screws into the LED light does light up. My question is what is going on do I need a special kind of 12 volt bulb or do the LED chips need to have a matching set to work even with one fixture completely removed I still had power going to the other perfectly fine. I did make sure that the contacts inside of the new socket are making contact with the bulb. I tried the two wires both ways still nothing I did end up just macgyvering the new fixtures with the old lights it was a train wreck but worked out but I'm still curious on why it didn't work in the first place thank you for any help.
