We have a new 2024 Freedom Traveler class A. The charging ports are lit, but don't charge. Any suggestions?

Thank you

On the dash?
In the passenger desk?
In the radio?
In the bedroom?

The radio ports are not for charging.

Had a few house usb plugs that were sloppy, had to to push hard to make connection

Pretty sure led light is powered the connector part of plug.

Replaced everyone in our rig with higher quality fast chargers and more ports.

Where did you get the new ports? From the dealer? Want to be sure they fit the same space. Guess you have figured out I'm not very handy with these things.

I replaced the 2 outlet USB port in the bedroom of my Hurricane with a 4 porter from Amazon. It was a perfect fit replacement.

On the walls, the USB receptacles are 120 volt AC volt powered and available from a electrical supply center, Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon etc. The ones on the dash are 12 volt DC powered and can be found on Amazon. UBS output is 5 volts DC and 0.5 amps for USB 1.0 and 5 volts DC and 0.9 amps for USB 2.0 & 3.0.

I have a new Freedom Traveler A32. The ports work, but are too low in amperage to charge iPhones, tablets, etc. I'm replacing with these:

Be sure to identify the fuse and remove it for the USB ports before changing out the hardware. Otherwise, you are likely to short something and blow the fuse. :)

Also, I'm replacing one of the 12V "lighter" sockets up front on the passenger side with one of these:

Sorry, no, not in RVs. The charging ports are 12 VDC powered.

This has been discussed multiple time on this Forum as the plates in the bedroom have been frequently wired with reverse polarity.

Had to modify hole size so new outlets would fit. Also cut out new holes to add more outlets.

The outlets my Palazzo came with were garbage, we swapped out all of them with better quality ones. They are just residential stuff, you can buy it at Home Depot, Amazon, etc.

The original 1-amp ones would usually show as "4 hours until fully charged" (if it even displayed as charging at all on the phone - normally not" - and with the high quality new "PD" (Power Delivery) USB-C ones I installed, something like 20% to 90% on our Samsung Galaxy phones takes about 25-45 minutes. The ones I used were highly-rated ones on Amazon that happened to be on a CyberMonday deal - 5 for $45+/-.

The charging requirements for modern smartphones are much higher than they used to be - more battery capacity = higher charging requirements. If "none" of yours are not working, I doubt it's a defect. More likely, it's just too low of an output level for the phones to register. If that is the case, it will slowly trickle charge, but it will take all night.

Not to state the obvious - but have you tried a different charging cable?

Must be different with the gassers.. my diesel-pusher had the USB outlets embedded in the 110-volt outlets. I have a couple of 12-volt charge outlets next to the bed, but the rest of the coach is 110v. I swapped the originals out myself. It was only wired with the 110v Romex.

My bedroom counter usb ports are right next to the 120v conventional outlets, I’m sure the usb ports are also 120v.
My wife ruined an iPad trying to charge it with those usb ports.

Oops, forgot to add 2016 ace 29.3

USB ports always put out a low DC voltage (5 to 13 VDC). The difference is how they are powered. The ones combined with AC outlet ports use the 120 VAC as the source voltage and convert it to low voltage DC. The stand-alone ones (like in your ACE bedroom and pictured in above posts) use the house 12 VDC buss as source voltage and convert it to 5 VDC in most cases. Ruining the iPad probably had nothing to do with the USB ports.

Usb plugs

In my 2017 Hurricane the bedroom USB plugs were not working when we purchased the unit as the second owners. Upon investigation the ports were wired with reversed polarity apparently from the factory. After straightening out the wiring they work perfectly.

Common Thor issue.

Before you replace the ports lightly crimp the female portion of your USB cable so that it makes a tight connection, I use needle nose pliers.
