Had a Starcraft Travelstar 17' since '03. That was fine with 2 children, now we have 6 it wasn't going cut it!

Almost bought a 2010 31QBH (think that was the model) in 2009, but decided to wait. The Starcraft has sat in the driveway for a few years now and we've missed the camping

So last weekend we took the cover off her and washed/polished/cleaned inside and out and on Monday she was on Craigslist. Tuesday night she was towed away for a full price, cash in hand deal!! Now with my birthday fast approaching, the kids sad to see her leave, everyone wanting to know if she'll be replaced, and a down payment burning a hole in my pocket

we decided a replacement was indeed what we should do. I'd been looking for a couple of weeks at the new Reserve Package 29SS and collecting quotes. Thursday it was ordered, and tomorrow we pick it up!! Printing out a PDI and going through some lists, it's going to be a long morning. But then we'll take it over to a local campground and spend the remainder of Saturday, Sunday and part of Monday testing it out and breaking it in (figuratively speaking that is!!). And I'm supposed to get some sleep tonight??!!!

Going to be towing with a '02 Suburban 1500 4x4 with a Husky Centerline hitch and existing Prodigy b.c. It's pushing it, but I plan on leaving lots of stopping distance, and we'll upgrade the TV eventually to a 3500 ext passenger - maybe I'll find a diesel one!

Anyway, I've lurked these forums for some time and wanted to say thanks to all who post with useful help, tips and tricks; as well as the humour!

Look forward to many happy memories in our future and hopefully we'll even get to see some of you around!

Oh, and one of these days I'll tell you about the camping trip that involved a run-in with a fully grown adult male black bear. On the PA turnpike!! Hence the avatar.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig. Enjoy your first weekend.

Congrats on the new TT. Ordering it and getting PDI all in the same week, that is really fast, they must have already had one on the way. Oh don't forget to take a video camera to your PDI (maybe let one of the older kids video tape it for you!)

Thanks, for the warm welcome. We were at the dealership for about 6 hours and got pretty much everything covered! They had received the unit the week or so before, so the timing really worked out in my favour!! After a pretty thorough PDI and test drive we headed out to a campground to meet up with the rest of the family and spend an extended weekend camping!

We were fortunate to have some major storms, so I know we're watertight. The whole family loved it, and for those that spent some time in the old 17' during storms they really appreciated the space (the DVD and flat screen probably didn't hurt either!).

Got home and backed it onto the driveway - so it really is true that the bigger the trailer the easier it is! Going forwards was good for our two 1 hour drives. Certainly won't win any speed records, uphill sprints or fuel economy awards, but at the end of the day we had a great time together. Already started planning the next few trips!

BTW, big shout out to the folks at Clem's Trailer Sales in Ellwood City. No dealership is perfect but they made the entire experience a positive one and I have no problems recommending them! They were very patient, thorough and took the time to get it right.

As for the rally, didn't we (unfortunately) just miss that? I thought it was last weekend and we'll have to wait until next year!

Happy Camping,

Marc
